Update on the Xantia after the annual jaunt to Cornwall.

Off we went all 4 of us for the yearly holiday to our favourite place.

Car performed excellent returning a combined mileage of approx 55mpg.
I must say she has not been very well looked after by myself in regular maintenence apart fro what needs doing at the moment..No time for pampering the Xantia at this moment but i was pleased by it's performance and reliability.

1300 miles in total with all the running about and last weekend i put another 330 miles on her. She will if i have not changed the car by September be off for another run. Don't know where yet but a week off in September will see her on the road to some quiant pubs for evening stop overs.

We do like to enjoy ourselves..

An update on my recent posts about buying a C5 1.6 hdi.

I never bought the car not that there was anything wrong with it but i had a gut feeling, " Don't buy ".
So glad i didn't as had arguements with boss at work and told him to stuff the job so back to the trusty. (fingers crossed ) 2.0 hdi Xantia sx.

Taken a week off this week off from doing anything to do with work to do a few things around the house and hopefully get a few things done on the car too, so expect a few posts on my progress.
Next week will be securing some work in the mean time thanks to all who give the info on the S2 C5

Good luck with job hunting... sometimes its good not to argue.

Should of kept the silver I had from you and had the cam belt water pump and bottom pully done.. money well spent.. Ive now done (Since I done those) 32k in her WITHOUT a moments bother - I kid you not. One set of tyres and two oil changes..

She simply refuses to go wrong!

My loss your gain, My Sx has done nearly 12k since iv'e had it with little fuss so far.

As for sometimes it's not good to argue, Sometimes it is too..lol

I never make a decision and regret it after..Well only a little bit. What will be will be..

What I did want to ask Russ, was are you SURE the car had done the 159k that was on the clock???

Shame the history was lost, Im just surprised for a Xantia with 191k, Ive not needed to touch the in tank fuel pump, the heater matrix is showing no signs of leaking etc etc... Just seem to be a bit wrong.. Im not complaining at all, Im just surprised. thats all..

As far as i know Paul it is correct, It is a mystery where the history went, unless someone i know threw it out not knowing what it was.

From what i remember it had a fair bit of history up to a certain mileage but what that was i can't remember Paul.
Just enjoy it and think from the condition of the leather it was looked after. I certainly never fitted new clocks in it and if anyone else did common sense would say to make it even lower..

I told you it was a good buy..

Made up a box for the diode fix today, just like the one the sell on Ebay.. Fitted it and it looks a bit better.

Excellent stuff Russ So when will you start flogging your version on eBay then

How's the suspension behaving itself now?

It did enter my mind, but i think not, well maybe..

The suspension is the best it's ever been to be honest. Will go for a long ride tomorrow and report back.

Just thought Id add, now that I have this Xantia, now at 214k the Diode Fix still works fine, and the ride is nice. However, I think centre spheres are certainly needed if they werent fitted in your possesion Russ..

Still, going strong for now..
