Battery Swap And Reset

Post by Andy B »

Hi all
This morning I followed the battery swap and reset instructions.
Sorry to say, it has made no difference.
Obviously, I had to try it.

Still no display (Black screen) and still not firing on all cylinders.
Warning lights still showing on the dash. (Engine light and Stop warning light).
Any other ideas will be most welcome.

Hi wheeler
To be honest, I followed the instructions and did not look to see if the light was on or off.
Should I try it again?

Kind regards

Agreed, in fact I would increase the times given by a large margin and take the opportunity to charge the battery for 24 hours.

Hi all
Still no luck with the car (apart from bad luck!)
Can you tell me how to remove the instrument cluster to get at the unit.
Do not want to damage the dash erea if I need to remove the unit.
I would think the persplex type front clips out to expose some screws that hold the cluster in position, but it is a Citroen so who knows.

Thanking you in advance.

It's really easy to remove the instrument cluster on the C5. All you need is two dessert spoons.

Along the bottom edge of the cluster there are two dimples in the perspex front. These mark the position of two spring clips.

Get your spoons and carefully ease the handle underneath the cluster at each dimple. Hold the spoons so the handle curves downwards.

Then push the spoon handles inwards and you'll release the two spring clips and the cluster just lifts out.

Simplze...
Cheers, Kev

Hi Kev
Seen the dimples and thought it would just clip out somehow, but I think I would have broken the clips without your help. (I may still break them!).

Thank you again

Hi all
I called out the RAC, he plugged his computer in and said he thinks it is a failed coil pack on number 2 cylinder.
If that is correct, it is an easy job to do.
I will contact the dealer today but I doubt if he will help in any way.

number 2 coil is on the front bank in the middle so its very easy, pull off the plastic engine cover, unplug the coil then there is one 10mm bolt holding it in. the coils on the rear bank are still easy to replace just a bit more stuff to take off.
I would also buy an extra coil as a spare, they will all go one after the other as they are basically a renault setup.

Hi Wheeler
Thank you for the information.
Number 2 coil pack looks to be a much older one than the others and also has a different marking on it.

I phoned the dealer today and think it may be good news.
He said that if I take the car back to him tomorrow (Wednesday), he will loan me another car to give him a chance to get it sorted.
He has phoned a Citroen main dealer, who he knows and trusts.
I will let you all know the outcome, but I do not expect it to be this week!
