The alarm off switch is a small button on the centre console between the
radio and the ashtray - next to the red LED. Least IIRC it's an off switch
- ages since I've had an Xm with this feature. Do you have any reference
for the alarm in the handbook pack - there should be a separate handbook.

If its the one Andrew talks of, which is my alarm...........put all fuses back in, shut doors and lock with plip then unlock with plip and the alarm will reset.
If there is no plip, fuses back in, lock with the key then within 15sec unlock car with key, turn the ignition on and press the black button between the radio and ashtray that looks like its been added by some previous owner.

Where is the Led on your car? is there any signs of an aftermarket (headache) one fitted?

IIRC, s2's have a key barrel to turn the alarm off as per earlier s1 Xantiae
though this is located under the bonnet on the offside towards the front
headlight panel/nosecone - I'll have a looksee at my late W plated 2.1TD
VSX - I don't recall seeing tis has such a thing fitted though an M plated
one I broke for spares did!
I'm trying to make some sense of the load of handbooks I have piled up here...

On your Exclusive is there an alarm off switch (as per the Xantia's) on the
main run of switches above the ventilation panel beside the interior light and
hazard switches. You need to get into the just unlocked car, switch the ignition
on with the key and press the volumetric alarm switch within 10 seconds.

The key thing under the bonnet should turn the alarm off. This key barrel was deleted on slightly later Xms, our 96 doesnt have one. Though the button on the dash which is ment to turn the interior sensors off does a similar trick too i think.
Hope you having a nice drive

Like the Xantia, the underbonnet keyway will stop the klaxxon siren and
the switch on the dash will actually override the alarm in it's operation
which deploys the flashing lights as well as the klaxxon. I realise now,
turning the underbonnet switch may very well make the alram sound now
making matters worse!
The alarm should reset once the car is locked and correctly unlocked again
but may still have a trigger once the doors are opened so the switch and
ignition procedure is necessary to stop it in it's tracks.
