I fitted the hose the other day, it was a massive PITA to fit!
Sadly incontinence issues are not fixed, admittedly its leaking now rather than dumping which is a bit better.
After more observation and discussion with martin at pleiades, it seems that the steering ram bushes are knackered and the rams gaitor itself is not sealing causing it to continue to leak!
So It will be fingers crossed that the cx goes throught the MOT fairly soon so the xm can come off the road for a while!

it wont have rusted, they are fairly hardy, the gaitor in the normal sense isnt needed at all, its just the little rubber band that catches the oil that be the issue, easy ish to change in situe............dependant on hand size/flexability

Don't worry Dean, one thing an Activa is very good at doing is keeping you occupied on a long-term basis!!!Deanxm wrote: thankfully my activa box is nearly empty now, dont know what im going to do after ive finnished it though..............

Those leakage return gaiters on the XM steering ram are the same ones used for repairing leaky Activa Rams. I just hope they don't go NFP any time soon...
The Xantia has the same gaiter but it does not seem available as a replacement part. Odd...

I have booked the MOT for the Cx, its all insured and booked for the 8th of feb...
Havnt quite done everything on the old fail list but will send it in and expect a fail.
It got an advisory on the brake hoses before so i think they may fail it on those too.
Also it got a fail on
"nearside front steering arm has relative movement at its fixings."
I have found the tie rod ends on ebay fairly cheap, but some of them have an extra bit on the end. So im unsure what one to buy.
Anyone offay with the cx front suspension.....
Before going for the test, the underneath will be doused in wax+oil.

Well the MOT of the cx fast approaches.
Im now at my parents without the Xm so if it fails I have a 2hour ride home on a motorbike- having done this once before- I know it aint going to be comfortable.
Im actually quite nervous even though im fully expecting it to fail miserably!
Today i injected lots of cavities with engine oil and a little bit of waxoyl!
That should stop the rust so long as i top it up regularly!
I took apart the headlight and indicator switches and reassembled them too.
Tomorow or monday ill hopefully adjust the handbrake, will have to read up how to do that tonight.
Ill also be gaffa taping up the sunroof as the interior of the car is like a swimming pool
You never know, at this rate you may see it at a rally this year.....

SHE ONLY BLOODY PASSED!!!!
The MOT tester was as surprised as I was!
She now has 6 months tax and has been driven to norwich!
At first i thought the steering was broken... but now i think it may be ok...
The first problem that has occured is I think the glow plug relay has died!
On the way to norwich the light came on a few times and now it doesnt come on at all. Also the car needs a fair bit of cranking to start.
So if anyone knows the location of said relay or another reason why the plugs are not working then please come forward!
