I've a 2.1TD turbo here Dave, believed good...

If you want it I could perhaps deliver it Friday

Price open to negotiation....

I'm assuming here the XM 2.1TD and later Xantia 2.1TD turbos are interchangeable.

IIRC they are Jim :)

I did have a niggling thought in the back of my mind that you still had one ;) but didn't want to say anything incase you earmarked it for a project or such like.

service.citroen shows different part numbers for the turbos on XMs and Xantias...the arrangement of connections air side looks different, and the orientation is different. That's not to say however, that it's not the same basic turbo with different inlet / outlet housings bolted on, and you couldn't relatively easily build a good one that will fit out of the two. Worth a punt given the likely cost of a replacement (XM ones are NFP, Xantia exchange is £1002.71  )

A new one is not that much more dear, a snip at £1234.84

Jim, what turbo is that, fitted as standard to the 2.1's?

O dear, just been on the phone to my dad, and i think the xantia has thrown its cambelt

He said it suddenly lost all power, but it was at low revs apparently. so hopefully all is not lost.
An engine swap is not what i need!

Oh no!
Its not confirmed that its the cam belt though right?
Hopefully you'll be lucky. I suppose the first thing is to crack off the cam cover and see what they look like?

Replacing the belt itself on our engines is a nice straightforward job, apart from maybe the crankshaft pulley if its tight.

dont know what noises it made. My dad says it just lost all power so he immediately took it out of gear. He didnt say there were any dodgy noises.
Probably going to go home in a couple of days to strip head and investigate.
Cheers

Dave, look what I saw on Sunday!

We went to see a Rover P6 3500S that was for sale in one of the containers and when driving back out I thought I saw a familiar shape car out the corner of my eye!
