S2 V6 12vs are reasonable rare arnt they? What reg is it on? I assume its not silver then!

I can imagine it might be quite hard finding a front end.

Are you happy with your 2.1TD now then? Or is it still an ongoing thing? Mind it always is with cars isnt it.

Ive contacted the guy and said i would like it! Not sure how rare they are. As for the front end hopefully ebay will come up trumps, i dont mind painting it anyway.

The 2.1td is always an ongoing project!

If the V6 were able to go back on the road then it would have to be a seldom used car!

Wow, result! Well done Dean!

An offer too good to resist there Dave :D

Now, will an XM front end fit inside another XM for transportation purposes?

Yes, looks to me that the front would go into an XM hatch too, the estate is a little longer but looks like there is room to spare. Estates are huge, ive had both of the 6hs bonnets in ours, with room to spare too.

Hope you get the V6 Dave, would be hard not to with the offer of the front end.

LEXIA UPDATE

I now have a working lexia!!!!! :D :D :D :D
Runnning on vista......

Well actually thats a lie, its running off of Xp inside of vista!

I can now communicate with the car, however this is slightly depressing as there is more wrong than i though!! :(

Here is a screen shot of my conversation with the suspension ecu

Image

No idea what im going to do about the permanent rear electrovavle fault :? , but i have erased all the others!

I also talked to the ABS ECU and found that it reckons its getting inconsistant data from 3 of my sensors :o , thats not going to be cheap at all!
However ive erased the faults and will see which ones come back!

Well done Dave, on getting the Lexia working..

I see you have the normal crop of hydractive faults :)

Electrovalves that come up with permanant faults normally need to have the diode mod carried out and then tey'll be OK. Otherwise there is a wiring fault.

Explains the hard-riding rear too...

Looks like you've found the cause of the "funny" brakes too if the Lexia is finding ABS issues. It all ties up...

Prepare to shell out on ABS sensors...

Thing is i did the diode mod! I soldered two diodes internally into the ECU! :?

That should have been OK then Dave :?

Can you hear the rear valve purring at all? Is it generally behaving as it should?

Under such circumstances, I'd temporarily substitute another electrovalve just for test purposes. No need to fit it, just hang it off the wiring...

Have you checked the plug on the electrovalve. It might be a bad connection in there due to a bit of corrosion.

If the symptoms persist with a substitute test electrovalve and the wiring is OK, it must be something unhappy with the VN05N driver IC...

If you can get hold of a 'scope, have a look at the waveform at the valve...

It should look like this:

Does your Lexia have an oscilloscope function?
