2 hours!!!!! took me 5 minutes to change my swirl actuator....... :-D

Did it when the engine was being changed due to me hydro-locking the engine in driving through a flood :(

Tim,

Quite agree about stripping EGR valve off etc.. Just more things to go wrong!

Run the car for about 3 - 4 days now and checked the faults codes using the OEBD socket and fault code reader and not a single fault code. The fault codes it was showing prior to this were ESP/ABS, EGR solenoid earth fault, engine torque control fault (on the ESP/ABS ECU) and probably a few more I've forgotten about. Just shows how fault code readers do always give an accurate diagnosis but in this case were all down to the drop in vacuum which occurred due to the leaky diaphram on the swirl valve actuator.

Wayndance

Sorry to hear about your sinking!!

My wife did that with our old C5 2.2 Exclusive. It was a lovely car but sucked water thro' the air intake, into the cylinder and bent one of the conrods - engine still worked after but misfired on start up until warm and lost a couple of mpg.

Insurance paid out for engine repair but I used money (work at garage) and replaced with secondhand engine, new clutch, new duel mass and other new parts. Insurance renewal was £100 more but managed to get insurance £50 cheaper than year before, go figure.

Loving my 2.2, stuff the better mpg of the girly 8v 2.0. :-D

I thought I would order this diaphragm P/N: 036387 for the swirl valve actuator but it is no longer available!

Does anyone know of an alternative source for this, please?

I am not sure if it is no longer available, but it is out of stock at all my usual places. Hopefully new stock will start again soon?

I am a new member here and I am following your announcements. I bought a used c5 2.2 hdi in 2001.
The car towed poorly above 2100 rpm and found that the el valve swir does not have a single vacuum tube on it and its current is only 7 v instead of 12 v. From the plug + to the battery - I measure 12 v.A from the plug - to the battery + 7
instead of 12 v. from the plug + to the battery - I measure 12 v.A from the plug - to the battery + 7 v. can any of you have a picture of the connection of the vacuum from the solenoid valve, to the swirl and other vacuum tube where it goes. air from the swir and it turns on the valve .el the valve tried at 12 v and it works if anyone can answer me
