I`ve got the discs and pads in now. They go in with the pistons wound right back. What was causing me to think otherwise was the dust seal popping out of its groove and catching the back of the pad.

Stripped it down lubed it and put some tight self amalgamating tape aroung to hold in groove...all good. Other caliper was a reconned one last year.

Will bleed it tomorrow.

It`s looking like previous owner was given wrong discs ..and put them on. He doesn`t remember the old ones being any different. I bet they were and he aint noticed.

Ok Brakes are all good now......pretty hot in fact 8)

Second Mot issue was Anti roll bar rubber on O/S. Turned out the rubber bush was fine The top half of the half moon cup was not located into the bottom female part before being pressured down by the bolt  Ah well easy fix.

Third and last issue for MOT. excessive smoke at high revs.....I mean really high revs . My Mot man said it may be a build up of oil in pipes.

Course it could be a seal on the turbo but it doesn`t seem an issue on normal running. Any HDI 110 owners had this ?. Is it a common issue?.I mean can it be cured with injection cleaner and a blast down the Motorway before Mot ?

Thanks ML. Can anyone confirm the EGR problem and where is it to blank off.

Cleaned out turbo hoses today.......just a light film of oil.

Is this a standard exhaust set up on Xantia HDI 110?

I thought it had a three part Cat? I don`t see the dog bone item for height corrector. Shouldn`t there be one in there?

The dogbone should be there, but certainly visible from that angle. The lower bar is not your ARB; it's just a stiffener.

Of course Addo ........it`s the ARB at the front I worked on.

Car is on a steepish slope Mike. You are rolling back if anything. There is a wedge at front N/S wheel anyway. That slope is brill for reversing up onto ramps.

So only one big Silencer box at rear? And is that a Cat at the front?. There is no heatsheild on it although tunnel has some on it.

Will take it for retest tomorrow.

I know that the STOP light is linked to the coolant level/pressure but this shouldn't make a difference in theory as the heater matrix always has coolant flowing through with airflow being directed over it.

Maybe also some sort of power drain slowing down the effectivness of the HP Pump?

It'll be interesting to find out what this turns out to be

Take a look at this thread http://www.frenchcarforum.co.uk/forum/v ... stop+light Pay particular attention to the relay contact points. Whilst you don't mention the coolant light I'm thinking along the lines of the A/C being turned on when the fan is operated.

It`s the stop light and the little light in the corner that flashes.

Aircon needs a regas at least. Fans come on and off when idling as seems normal. Is there a check for the Bitron sensor and could that be an issue?. Won`t get pressure cap and bone till Wed.
