Had a bit of a fail evening yesterday, didn't get much done. Cant drop lump back in as the o/s engine mount rubber is shot, probably due to a lot of hard launches with drag radials on

Looked on the gsf website, everything r5 related has been discontinued, so had to order all the necessary bits from my local motor factors. The days of off the shelf parts for the r5 have gone.

Had a spare couple of hours tonight so popped the box back on & dropped the lot back in. Going to crack on next week & hopefully have it running for bank hol weekend.

Well its all back in & running. Had to make the fixed dizzy adjustable to sort the ignition timing to make it run smoother at lower rpm's. Had it idling at 800 earlier but the whole van rattles so have settled for 1k.

Ive noticed there's less vacuum on idle now, Making it breath a little more than it used to. The engine seems so much more responsive even at low boost, might get the wideband on it & do some tuning tonight

Shady video if it running/idling here, a lot louder now!

Some pics of it back together, took on my shady point & shoot cam as my dslr is down the lockup.

Ohheeer Missus, engine p0rn :P

What a fantastic job Brigsy. You should be very proud indded of that. It looks absolutely brilliant and to tell you the truth I could stare at that all day. The attention to detail is incredible - even the expansion bottle is spotlessly clean!

Gorgeous :D

Cheers Jim :D

Had it out for a fuelling check lastnight & it goes very well, will rev to 7200 no problem. If i get chance ill rejet the carb today & up the boost a bit.

Have piped up the breather system better as the alloy pipes were too small & fitted my alloy carb top with one port. Took a better pic with me dslr :D

Very pretty! Its giving me some inspiriation to get mine done now. I've just purchased a Gizzmo IBC to get some decent boost control, should transform the power delivery.

Got the plates from http://www.craigsplates.com/ about £30.

Mine aren't road legal like, Not exactly crime of the century though so i just run them. You can get road legal pressed plates from dubmeister though.

Well its all been going pretty well with the van..

Took it down york raceway for a few test runs last monday. As the surface isn't too good i knew i wouldn't break any records but i were more concerned about trap speeds.

Best run was 14.73 @ 100. All other runs were 14/15 sec with consistent 100mph traps. The cam/18lb boost must be doing the job, No idea how much power ive gained but 10mph up on last runs at the pod.

Broke the exhaust on the way out like so had to limp it home! Middle hanger snapped & a bolt at the front.

Best run slip here.

Done a few runs at santa pod on fri. Done a new best time of 13.4@97 on slicks, 14.3@98 on road tyres. Hot weather werent helping things as it felt down on power slightly, Grip/surface was awesome though.

Its possibly the fastest Renault extra van in the world now lol. Roll on 12's when i up the boost.

A couple of pics..

Looking very good indeed though I can't help wondering how much a cold air intake would help as, going by your pics, it's sucking hot under-bonnet air?

It probably could do with a cold air feed like, ill knock something up soon.

Had no major issues with the van, Only problem is it drinks petrol like no tomorrow when on boost, Ill have shares in tesco soon the amount i have spent there recently! Oh well cant have power with good economy i guess.

All that money spent on shiny engine and you put tesco fuel in? Do you put any additives in with it?
