Actually Malcolm, running old Cirtroens is excellent therapy for all known mental issues.. It sorted me out

And then my other two therapies, karate and baking, finished me off good and proper

I'm with Kev, a Citroën and a Peugeot, I really must be puddles, still at least mine are newer and all you have to do is plug a computer in.......allegedly, said a spokesperson........

Citroens in particular and cars in general helped my mental issues. My ex once told me to pull myself together. Did she think i was a pair of fcuking curtains? That's one of the reasons she is my ex. I know it's a cliché but time does ease things.

If I had a quid for every time someone said that to me Davie I'd be a naffing millionaire And yes, my ex said it very frequently...

Time does, 'tis true. I reckon it takes 10 years to recover from a breakdown. It's about 10 since my last one and I think I've just about got over it but I never get compacent...

Always on my guard looking for the first signs. Mind you I do the same with my ME too... If either throws up any warning signs, however slight, I take notice and mitigate.

I had an ME crash on Tuesday. I just stopped and did nothing for the day. Spent most of it in bed. Been right as rain since but if I hadn't I might still be ill today...

Biggest thing to avoid is stress. I do everyting I can to avoid it at all costs. If something stresses me it's got rid of immediately, whatever it is.

I remember coming up with a phrase that a friend of mine thought was rather good (and she helped people with issues with, amongst other things, self confidence). It goes "You are the best in the world at what you do best, and what you do best is to be yourself".

Stress to for me is not good hence another reason she is an ex. I had first breakdown in august 2001, was probably depressed long before that. 2nd one Jan 2013 I exploded. Again I really knew before that and it shows how the mind plays tricks as I deliberately accelerated it thinking the sooner I crash the sooner I can get better, if I get better at all. I hope I have learned now and if I get stressed the source of the stress can go, whatever or whoever caused it. The problem is its usually me that causes it[emoji35] [emoji12]

Two things. For the phrase to work you have to really believe it. Where stress is concerned, everybody has their own way of dealing with it, and what works for them may not work for somebody else, so find what is right for you and stick to it (regardless of what anybody else may say or think).

The XM is well on the way to be on the road for the start of next month. It was drivable before but there were a couple of annoyances which needed sorting.

First thing was the sunroof again which was leaking again after the temporary cloth tape fix had given up the ghost. I had done this once before but the attempt wasn't entirely successful as I used the wrong type of sealant. This time I used Wayside Adhesives Windscreen Sealant kit which was recommended to me by Dieselman.

I have a replacement rubber weather seal which I picked up from the main dealer a while back but it is a very tight fit into the sunroof aperture. Hopefully one day it will bed in. Not a huge user of the sunroof so its not the end of the world at the moment.

I also noticed that the coolant level was dropping over a few months last year and when I turned the heater blower on, the windscreen misted up terrible. Suspicions were confirmed when I noticed a steady drip from the corner of the heater matrix box...I picked up a Valeo heater matrix from AEP Direct in Glasgow which for reference does come with replacement O ring seals. Not too bad a job to fit. I kept the steering column in place and didn't cut any of the heater box. I just had two slightly cut down sides of a cornflake box, one which I wrapped around the bottom corner of the matrix and another which I slid behind the matrix to protect the fins.

The O rings were a bit of a sod, thought I fitted them correctly the first time but once I filled up the coolant, water started dripping from the join! Drained the coolant and reseated the O rings and all was fine. I did replace the clamp bolt with an allen key one as the existing one I had a bit of trouble getting much grip on it.

I spoz you tried/checked the roof drain tubes were clear before bodging it with tape and sealer hun
the felt seal is not intended to stop water entering but to stop drafts,

And I believe it's not a common failure on the XM as it is on the Xantia either....
