I thought mine had packed up in the 2.1 this morning Kev. I could not hear it running
Then I reaslied. I've had a bit of a cold for a couple of days and I'm practically stone-deaf as a result
At the first sign of a cold it goes straight to my ears
The other reason, and I've noticed it in the past, that there is a delay of a good few seconds when it's chilly, before the fan kicks in.
The mod will be a breeze for you Kev, you'll have it done before breakfast

Do excuse me, its a bit early in the morning so expect a few spelling and gammer mistakes!
Im going away up to Cardiff with a few friends for a day or two so, no posts from me until I get back.
I finally got around to fixing the blower this afternoon after gathering all the bits over the past week, I had to get it done really, else i might find myself crusing along in the cold
Got a 40Amp 12v relay from Maplins along with some 6 amp cable and picked up some 42 Amp wire from Halfrauds. The 42 Amp wire was advertised as high power speaker wire but upon closer inspection it actually says power cable on the wire. Mind you, the wire is rather thick! Had trouble crimping it with the yellow crimping bits.
It appeared that of the resources on the relay mod, I understood the wiring diagram better than Richards Excel, I then got to work and after seeing all those wires, Richards Diagram made everything look a lot simpler!
I got a bit of a shock just after taking off the underbelly of the dashboard and was greeted by a spark Some idiot had wires running about, a couple of fly wires with the copper visible rather close together. I am really really glad that I saw this now. It looks like they tried to fix the problem with one of the sidelight fuses keep blowing.
Unfortunatly, no photos as it was raining heavily and I ended up making myself a makeshift shelter with a large tarpolin.
Anyway, I must stop there as Im going to be late!
Cheerio for now lads!

Dear oh dear oh dear! Its been a while since my last update hasn't it
I've finally managed to fix the problem I've been having with my NS Front sidelight, right hand rear sidelights and Light on warning system fuse blowing 8)
After testing all the wires and finding some...interesting wiring modifications (there seems to be a buzzer wired in behind the carpet on the OS in the boot next to the cluster of lights that aren't on the tailgate).
It turned out to be a flywire hanging around the fusebox with one of those crimp-on wire splitter jobbies had got caught and chaffed on a nearby ground point. This wire wasn't actually going anywhere so off it came!
I've also noticed that the two front indicators are different colours, the one I changed is amber, whereas the old one is now verging white - so thats due for a change.
As some of you may know, I mashed up my code reading on the Clarion radio I picked up by letting the anger of the day get the better of me and getting hasty. I really should have waited until I felt a lot more patient.
This weekend I have been doing a bit of tractor restoration and was hoping to complete it to a running stage to take it out to storage, as i've been refurbishing the hydrostatic steering and replating the bonnet. The bonnet wasn't even touched this weekend.
I decided on buying a new battery tray as my exisiting one has been eaten by the acid monster and I didn't have anything to go on to weld one up myself.
What a shoddy piece of engineering this new swinging battery tray was! It involved a couple of hours worth of modification before it would even fit on the tractor
It seems like everything started to go downhill from then - though it didn't really, not until a few hours ago when the power steering pump resivour decided not to go back together At the last try it sprung its self all over the shed and I decided enough was enough and had to come in. I had me tea and decided to treat myself to a tin of cold rice pudding - pouring the loverly stuff out and I find blood dripping down into my bowl the tin lid had cut my thumb.....
The good bits regarding the tractor, was painting. Got the steering ram looking nice and blue, as well as the steering pump and battery tray. Also the steering pump bearing replacement went smoothly too.
Oh and another bad bit, the steering for this tractor takes SAE 20 oil rather interesting I thought and noticably hard to get hold of. Finally got some yesterday - a 20 Ltr tin for wait for it....£66...........
You thought an Activa was a money pit, at least you can source parts for them, rather than a small British 4WD conversion company that went bust 25 years ago....
I do apologise if my mood at the moment is a bit but its nice to get it all off my chest.

Kev the boot buzzer is likely to be from a previous towbar fitment.. I found mine last week when I fitted the towbar.. Think it came on with hazard lights and indicators..
John
ps I saw an abandoned John Deere yesterday, whilst on a walk.. Cant say much about it.. It had an exhaust going staight up in front of the windscreen..

Thanks for the heads up regarding the towbar buzzer, I wondered what it might be for
The last couple of weeks I have come to realise just how common Peugeot 405's there are around my neck of the woods, moreso the Estates. Only yesterday down our local supermarket I saw a 405 Hunter in a nice dark metallic green a few spaces away from a Quasar. I originally thought the 'Quasar' badge was an addon by the owner but it turns out that its original
What brilliant name "405 Quasar"
Theres also a few 405s that I see on my walk to work, one of which is an Executive, another a P reg (must be one of the last ones), a couple with ladders perminatly strapped to the top and of course a few collegues have them, one of them has painted his various colours...I myself wouldn't dream of doing such a thing to my car but each to their own
Theres also a W plate Xantia Break HDI which always seems to go past down the hill just as im walking up the to where I work

Nothing really to report on the Xantia apart from the fact that its going to have a proper good clean this weekend
I may find myself up in Milton Keynes from this Sunday for a week until around Friday/Saturday for a training course, providing all the admin stuff goes through okay tomorrow, hoping to travel up on Sunday to have a nose around the area

You are more than welcome to come and visit during your stay. I'm only a very short distance from Milton Keynes.
In fact, if you do come up this way and don't come and see me I shall be most offended!
