My Dad averaged 18 mpg in a 1.8 8v Xantia - towed his caravan from Portsmouth the the Lakes when they moved house in under 6 hours (300 miles).

I had a weekend with a Triumph TR6 a few weeks ago - 20mpg average. Sounded great though!

Was talking to a garage owner in Wales a few years ago, he took his Lotus Carlton to Germany and was getting around 75 miles/ tank  thrashing it on the autobahns, i don't know the tank capacity of Carltons,or top speed the're capable of, but it doesn't take much working out that the MPG is pretty horrendious..........................Paul..................

In 1989 myself and my dad went half's on a 79' Vauxhall Royale saloon (it was just a senator really). It had the cam in head 2.8 litre straight six and a huge solex carb that would have been more at home on top of a V8. The carb was absoloutely knackered, flat spots and loads of black smoke, the plugs had to be cleaned regularly and it used to return around 7 MPG! Thank fully a transit drove into the back of us and did the environment a huge favour.

On a 14 mile (total) commute into Stockport 5 days a week our Honda has recorded as low as 16.3 MPG! Needless to say the g/f uses my ZX now! lol...

On long Mway runs the Honda manages 32 MPG, and that, plus the fact it's a lovely car to drive long distances, are the only reasons it's still here! :)

Man thats low!

Rachel's Verso can dip as low as 31 when pushed hard but at the moment is into the Mid 40's. I know this is due to the Dcat and the 5th injector just 'dumping'(i kid not here) fuel to heat the Dcat up to burn off the rubbish... May crimp that line soon enough and see if i can get the economy up that way ;)
