Managed to get home at a decent time tonight so as tomorrow is a busy day (forum upgrades, lawn mowing, cambelt change on Jenny) I thought I'd give myself a head start and work on Jenny.
But before that, you may have noticed "have BT infinity installed" isn't in the list above.
Originally BT were due to install it today, I'd booked the day off and organised the server down time with you all. Then they contacted me with a cryptic message saying they would be taking control of my phone line yesterday and calling me today to arrange when to install infinity.
On Monday I checked the order and saw it had changed, saying they no longer needed to send an engineer out to install Infinity because "it can be done at the exchange end" which is rubbish as they've got to install the "modem" which the home hub then connects to. So I called them and was told they'd be fast tracking my install and I could have it done tomorrow morning. Great, let you all know, clear things with the wife to do all the forum upgrades and have the installation done.
Today I recieved a text message saying my install date was the 28th of May. So I called them to be told they'd only put the order in for Infinity to be installed today and couldn't do anything with it as it was "going through the system"
Not happy. Then I got a call back saying they could install it on Tuesday, no good as I'm at work, how about Friday? "We can try but we won't know if they can until Monday" which is too late for me as I have to give a week's notice for time off and I'd already had to cancel the previous holiday request which messed everyone at work around. If they couldn't get to me next Friday, then they might be able to do the Friday after. She was totally disinterested in how they'd messed me around. So I gave Danielle a call, talked it over, decided that if this is their level of competence and service then how bad would it be if something went wrong further down the line. Called them up and cancelled, with no attempt from them to try and retain me, unlike O2 who had sent me a text in the morning saying they were sorry I planned to leave and was there anything they could do to keep me.
Gave them a call, they offered me 6 months free broadband (normally £9.50 a month), I accepted. Where as I'd spent a total of about 45 minutes on the phone to BT (38 of that waiting in queues to be answered), O2 had given me a deal in less than 10 minutes.
What's more, I called them when I got home to see about their home phone service as it's cheaper than I was paying before with Utlilty Warehouse. Unfortunately the broadband package I'm on is an old one giving me unlimited downloads, and they don't offer it with their home phone deals. It would mean going onto a new broadband package for £7.50 a month and 20GB limit, I said I'd probably breach that so they offered me the unlimited at that rate. I did the maths in my head, with both from O2, it'd be £20.50 a month, with UW for the phone and O2 broadband (6 months free so equivalent of £4.75 a month) it'd be £18.75, not a huge difference but it'd save me a little bit. When I mentioned that it probably wouldn't be worth me moving my phone to O2 then, he had a word with his manager and came back with "O2 home phone £13 a month, unlimited broadband for 12months FREE" so I of course accepted. It's free UK evening and weekend calls, starting at 6pm in the evenings so Danielle calling her dad now won't cost us anything, and it also includes 600 minutes to 0845 and 0870 numbers which we call now and again when booking things.
Total difference between customer services of the two companies, BT just didn't seem to care, while O2 were quick, knew what they were talking about, and got me a very decent deal to keep my business.
Anyway, enough of an advert for O2

Back to Jenny.
I've got the engine mount off, aux belt off (the tensioner needs replacing it's solid), crank bolt is loose, then I thought "Why not remove the wings and bumper so you can fit the new ones tomorrow?"
Well the side bolts on the bumper gave their usual trouble of the captive nuts breaking free, so I had to pry the bumper off them, and the old wings are a tad bent in order to make it easier to get in and work on those pesky bolts.
So tomorrow after I've upgraded the forums, and mown the back garden, I'll be changing the cambelt and water pump, hopefully if I have time to go and buy it I'll replace the aux tensioner, and fitting the new bumper, wings and possibly bonnet.
