Sphere too old?

That sphere will be fine.

The only proper way to test is to pop it on a test rig, I could do that for you but it's pointless as the shelf life of a sphere is more or less untill it rusts through.

The only sensible way to test a sphere is to fit it where it is meant to be used.
Unless you drop by a garage/workshop that have said tool (by Martin).
Unless you are a regular customer you should expect to pay a fee for the testing labour.

Nah, if you want it checked for piece of mind, you can bring it along, it will take about 2 mins to check.

Just bring some sweets.
