Rear Creak on Xantia
On switching off and getting out of car there is a ticking or creaking from back end.........like a slow tick tock Tyre wear looks even. Could this be the start of rear bearings on subframe. If so can the items be bought at a bearing supplier?. I usually find my supplier is a third of the price from even aftermarket places.

Guess it could be the rear arm bearings - does the rear arm show
any signs of leaning the wheel inwards at the top?
Fortunately, I've not had rear suspension issues on a Xantia, yet,
but from experience with the same design set up on a Cx there's
a chance it's the anti-roll bar mounting/ bracket on the arm.
On the Cx at least, the mating faces can dry and they can creak
and groan when the height changes.
IIRC, the fix is to pack the joining faces with grease!
That all said, I've no idea how it's set up on a Xantia!!

the usual cause of this on all the hydraulic citroens with trailling rear arms pivotting on tapper bearings, is the bearings startting to colapse, GSF sell a kit containning every thing you require to do the job exccept for the shim washer, this is dealer only and a pkt of assorted thickness, it is quite an easy job to do,
and like Andrew i have not done a Xantia yet but i have done lots of BXs, it shouldnt be much differant

A bit more info,
The bearings on a Xantia cannot be lubricated as they are sealed in. Apparently it is a big job to change them and not for the light hearted. I dont think its technically difficult, just a big job which potentially involves taking off the trailing arm to access the bearings....or so ive been told.
