Re: Vince's XM - Now with pics !!!
I believe that Andrew was keener on whole cars going as opposed to just odd bits and pieces but it might be worth a try. Either way most of us anoraks have a stash of spares so you should be able to find what you need in the end Vince! One CX is back here from Wales (and resto' is underway), and perhaps more to follow sometime in the future...

She's looking good Vince and here's hoping and praying Andrew will be able to supply some bits to help on the way to yours becoming a minter

Surely its better to save some bits rather than see the whole thing go to the scrapper.
Sure is Jim, thats a design you no longer see on the modern boxes

Of course, however I think time was/is of the essence with regards the futures of those cars...Citroenmad wrote:Surely its better to save some bits rather than see the whole thing go to the scrapper.![]()

Re: Vince's XM - Now with pics !!!
Space still is a big issue that precludes my keeping these and unfortunately I'm forced to do the unthinkable and
weigh in complete cars as much as I really don't/never wanted to. A raid of you guys would be welcome and all
funds enthusiastically welcomed but I'm not sure of the practicalities with the practical disposal of the remains.
Ideally complete cars going to a new home is better than immobilising something that I will have to trailer to the
weigh in yard. I'm desperately holding onto what I can for as long as I can and am firefighting with trailer and tow
car issues to add into the mix on top of a whole load of stress and currently if it can go wrong it will - puncture
on the way home Sunday is but a highlight.

It does sound like your having a pretty stress packed time of it Andrew
If we agreed to only take parts which would keep your cars mobile, that could work?

Re: Vince's XM - Now with pics !!!
Well if anyone wants a hand with this let me know as i dont mind offering my services one weekend bringing one or two back, Especially if paul is taking whole cars, Vinc/Paul/Me could drive 3 back and have them suitably filled with parts, and if they have alloys or at least leaving them in a slightly rolling state so Andy can scrap them would be a good idea as im sure with some thick blankets and the back seats of each one down we could fill them up easily and not damage anything
If struts need to be taken then making up some big 4*4/3*3 planks of wood to replace them would be best and sticking on some really poor wheels to get them there.

Re: Vince's XM - Now with pics !!!
Well with the good weather finally arriving I managed to get the front end of the xm machined. Damn it was a mess! It took quite a while and will be re done again before the cxm, but I've got past the worst of it. Just the rest to go over now...
I would have carried on but last week saw me waste 1.5 hours of my weekend at my sons church parade....this weekend, namely right now, sees me stranded at a kids birthday party again with Jack, for 2 hours! It's deafening in here with kids screaming! Happy thoughts....happy thoughts...

Hi Mark, I did take some . I'll post them up later. The most satisfying bit was wet and drying the headlights lenses. They feel and look like new now...
One of my next jobs is to do the rear subframe area...then onto removing the front arch liners, cleaning and rust proofing the area...all after finishing the detox on the bodywork. Whenever that gets finished...

Vince, can you recommend an odour-free interior shampoo/cleaner solution.
My C5 is a bit stinky (spilled a few pints of milk on the back seat
) but the fragrances added to the usual stuff would prevent me from using the car. As would taking it to the local valet.

Hi Steve,
I would probably hire a vax cleaner if you havent got a wet and dry vac. That way it removes what it washes out. I dont think they are dear to hire....might be £20 or so?
Other than that, a cheap unscented all purpose anti bacterial cleaner from somewhere like tesco, scrub it in with a soft nailbrush and then sponge it back out with a car sponge or a towel. It might take a couple of goes but milk is a bugger because it stinks
I feel sorry for you Steve
