Re: Vince's XM - Now with pics !!!
It's not just you vince. In general, anyone who has an album or photo containing the words 'Citroen' or 'Xantia' without the capital letters or dots above the 'e' will have trouble.
Reply to the post and type citroen xantia in non caps then click preview, you'll see what I mean then.
I understand that it's to keep the words correct but it does throw a spanner in the works if you happen to keep a sensibly named online photo album.

Re: Vince's XM - Now with pics !!!
Jim, the AX was a great little car, I had one as my first and really enjoyed it.
I too hate crowds and try not to shop during weekend, its just too manic and I end up not buying anything
Your XM is looking great Vince, I love that door open display. Wish mine had one, the display on mine is useless, it only tells me things I would rather it kept to itself. Mainly that of the ABS since it has an intermittent problem.
I bet your loving driving about in the XM, they are a totally different thing to Xantias.
Its colour does suit the shape well too, thats not the normal grey though is it? Its quite a light, almost greeny, grey. Looks very tidy

Re: Vince's XM - Now with pics !!!
I dont have that problem Kev.. I use simply citroen, without the dots, Xantia or xm and I dont have issues.. I wouldn't have a clue how to get the dots on top of the O anyway... Or am I missing something else..red_dwarfers wrote:It's not just you vince. The reason it doesn't affect you is that your photobucket name is citroenxm, all one word. If it was citroen xm on the other hand...

Re: Vince's XM - Now with pics !!!
Today saw work start on the rolling resto clean up project
Naturally the underside of the xm is going to take priority to stave off corrosion, but also the top half is easy for anyone to do....not many people do the underside too
Front subframe as it greeted me earlier on
With the rust brushed off a nice new coat of smooth black hammerite now covers it which should keep it corrosion free for a while at least plus it loosk so much better
Next up were the top mounts. These are being painted to help keep them dry and water proofed. The undersides will be sealed once the arches are done There is no rush on these as luckily they are like new almost
That was the main job for today....i also cleaned and waxed the passenger side door shuts and door bottoms and edges. They now look like new again

Re: Vince's XM - Now with pics !!!
Hi Chris,
I brushed the flat section with an artists brush and smooth hammerite, then sprayed the top section with hammerite satin black...keeps them looking fresh and also water tight. Underneath ill tetrosyl them after cleaning all the crud off. clean surface then locked in with underseal. Just need to keep them clean then
Jim.....Im not sure about finishing up a minter....perhaps At this moment it seems like a long journey to get there....but i need to remind myself of how many hours and pounds have been spent on the Xantia...ive not had the xm a week yet
Anyway, i decided to take the xm out for a trip down the road to the same spot i first took the vsx to take some early stage photos.....fingers crossed i will take it back to the same spot in a few months looking alot better After getting back i jumped into the Xantia for a quick early farewell drive as its going on friday to live in angelsey A good trade off....a nice xm for a nice xantia...angelsey is a lucky place
What you do notice stepping into a Xantia from an xm is how small the Xantia is in comparison and how light and nimble they are....because they are lighter they seem more floaty by comparison whereas the xm also floats but moreso like a boat on the sea. Both fantastic drives in their own way though. The Xantia clutch feel feather light to operate and also the steering is a finger tip job and the gearshift light and easy...it feels like its only done 50k or so....
One of my neighbours who came over the other day to pour over the xm (he loves it) commented "i bet you'll miss the xantia though" and at that time i thought....perhaps not so much as ive had a lot of time with it and now have the xm to pour attention into, but after driving it tonight i can see just what he means....im going to miss the xantia so much, its a great car...luckily its going to a loving home and not to some random person on ebay who just wants a cheap car
Hopefully ill see it again one day
Anyway...back to the quirks of the xm....and some poorish quality pictures of the "northern lights" aka the xm at dusk

Re: Vince's XM - Now with pics !!!
Its looking good, I'm liking the dash pictures
How have you got your lights to look so yellow/orange?
The Xantia is tiny when stepping out of an XM, you should try going from an XM estate to a Xantia hatch, its like going from a HGV to a supermini!

Re: Vince's XM - Now with pics !!!
Lol,
The lights just come out that way Chris...they are on sidelight mode not dip beam. Somehow photos always show them up brighter.
Ive just messaged Andmcit on the xm forum....i cant believe he is going to be weighing in about 3 of these series 1 cars..... I know he has no choice but im going to need so much stuff off them as i go through this project, that it breaks my heart.
Ive asked for his postcode to contemplate a trip down on a parts raid.....seriously considering it too
