its connected to a Pressure sensor attached to the side of the battery box.. and takes the boost pressure from the inlet manifold.. I love that bit!

Yup ! S1 S1 S1... \:D/ \:D/ \:D/

If you look at the Engine Bay picture, over on the right, just above the fuel filter is a device, with a hose and plug on it.. Thats the boost sensor.. the guage is electronic in the instruments...

Thanks Paul :-D That's disgraceful they deleted it from S2 models. Just what were they thinking

Now that's the gauge we all want on our TCTs :)

to be fair they are rather pointless, i had the same in my old saab and it moved but with no markings all you knew was that you were making white, green, orange or red boost, which isnt very informative.

Oh no i agree completely Paul, they are a nice touch, another feather in the MK1 cap so to speak.

Jim, white boost was when you were not moving, green was when you were shifting aloing at a good rate, orange was when you could physicaly see the fuel guage dropping (you think im joking) and red was when it was broken

Oh no, I know, I've seen it Dean  Back in the mid 90s we had a Nissan Serena people carrier with the 2 litre petrol engine. A lovely engine but when towing our Sprite Major with it I often observed the petrol gauge visibly falling. Gosh could that car ever drink. It makes an Activa look positively parsimonious

I never did check the 'economy' of it. I don't think I could have stood the shock. Didn't keep it long as it was bankrupting us. Swapped it for a Vauxhall Chavalier

I was not well in those days

What did you do to deserve those cars Jim!

At least it was not a diesel Serena, which I still think holds the record for the slowest motorised box.
