Only the Activa got spoiler!

Then it was NOT untill 1997/8 R that the SX spec then got the standard spoiler as with S2 cars..

Ive got a spoiler on my V6.. and it DOES finish it off, im un certain if S1 and S2 rear bumpers are the same.. :?

So has mine on my V6 Vince. Three little ripples along the lower edge :(

Must have been caused by the cold.

I'm niggled about it too especially as the seal on the MKII scrap V6 was perfect but they can't be removed....

Its so annoying isnt it Jim :x

Its one of those little things that i cant live with.....once i know its there....
Whatever you do dont fiddle with it cold as thats how mine split further

It seems to smooth out when you push it back down where it seals the window and not the tailgate but I was set to get the hairdryer out to warm the area up when i got impatient and tried to persuade it back in place...

As far as the spoiler goes.....Im sure the showroom brochure ive got shows the VSX with a spoiler?.....Or was it a factory optional extra?

I used to prefer the Xantias without a spoiler but now i have been "spoilt"...Yes i know bad joke.....i'll get me coat

S1 and S2 bumpers are different, back and front.

I think it was only the activa with a rear spoiler on S1 cars, dont think ive ever seen a VSX with one actually.

VSX was dropped by 1997 R reg, as Exclusive had come along..

But in 1997 the SX DID get a standard spoiler, thats were my V6 spoiler came from, and Ive seen a few other R reg SX models with standard spoiler, they ALSO fitted alloys to the SX aswell.. as a spec upgrade for S1 run out ready for S2 cars to come in...

The s2 bumper is slightly fuller on the rear BUT as it's fully colour coded
would fit a series 1 v6 or Activa... :D

Vince, in response to your text mesage earlier... The tailgate glass rubber is not removable easily from the tailgate. Mike and I tried with no success, even with a sharp knife.

As to wether or no it is available as a spare part, I'm not sure. I do have the body manuals at home and can look but I have a feeling the tailgate glass and its trim are all bonded in as one.

I'm going to watch mine s the weather grows milder and see what happens...

My 95 N reg SX had a spoiler too, a much nicer one than most Xantias, it had a brake light in it, was very deep but not very high, nice sturdy middle post holding it to the boot, so you could use it as a point to loop rope through to keep the boot secure if carrying large loads.
*sigh* I miss that car.

Wish I could find where from, all the aftermarket ones I've found are 2 point not 3.

Citroën did produce a Xantia rear spoiler similar to what Xac describes but without the middle post, i.e. low and quite deep, available with or without an inset brake light as on the rear of this one

Well if thats the case then Jim im stuffed....there is no way that you should not be able to remove the rear screen and seal. If not then if you broke your back window, even from new, then it would mean a replacement tailgate  Surely not?

Having tried with Jim to remove the rubber trim on Sunday, I still think that it is possible, but would take some patience and a bit of luck. It is glued quite firmly (but not uniformly) to the glass, and the rubber is quite thin in section, easy to tear or nick with a knife.

If I needed one however, I would be down at a scrap yard practicing removal (if necessary by sacrificing the glass).

The rear window makes up an essential part of the strength of the plastic tailgate, having had experience of a Xantia tailgate with a broken window there's a word that comes to mind "flaccid" so the bonding has to be by definition very strong.

Thanks guys,

Luckily now that the weather has warmed up the seal has "de rippled" itself and gone back to normal :)

Unfortunately though the part i tried to persuade into place is no longer sealed to the window or the tailgate. This is only a small section approx 2 inches long though so i have bought some black loctite silicone sealant designed for car and marine use and bonding glass to other components. which i hope will fix the problem [-o<

My nearly new spare wheel carrier is now shiny gloss black hammerited and looking great and ready to re fit so i can stop carrying my spare around in the boot.

With work being very demanding at the moment my biggest struggle is staying awake when i get home....Once that calms down a bit then i am going to tackle the dash bulbs and then the rear suspension fix.....New Spheres on the rear and the electrovalve tested....Will need some help with that from the Xantia gods..pretty please :)
