That's already happening Steve!

Good to know the foam will put me out if I catch fire in my sleep Mick :)

And having successfully booked two tip trips today I've loaded Polly up to the gills for the second time...
20240821_170055.jpg
That's about 80% of the mountain of waste the job generated now gone... The mountain looked huge initially and it staggers me just how much can be packed into Polly...

One more trip, depending on how much packing waste the new bed, mattress and sofa generate, might just do it. Result!

I find I can book up to three tip trips per day...

My mum often tells the tale of how, not long after she and my dad got married, she woke suddenly to find my dad vigorously, still fairly asleep or at least not really with it, trying to stuff the duvet out the bedroom's little fan light window!
Turns out he'd had a pretty convincing dream that it was on fire so was doing his best to get it out onto the lawn before it burnt the house down :-D

The next load for the tip :D
20240822_094000.jpg
Contained therein is a complete double divan bed base... It met it's end on the teeth of a battery-operated jigsaw.

It's feeling a bit flat now... DeWalt 1, Bed 0 :)

That's my back garden patio once again fully clear of all the fallout from a week of work :D

If anyone had said it would take only three tip trips aboard a C3 Picasso I'd have laughed and said five minimum. Just shows what an excellent, versatile vehicle the Picasso is :D Car one day and van the next!

My next big project involving that patio will be a full makeover of my garden...

Really surprised you had to get rid of the old carpets yourself Jim. When we paid for fitting of the ones at my folks place, them dealing with that nonsense was part of what we paid for. Admittedly, our nearest tip was 18 miles away!

Feathers feature highly among the things I'm very allergic to, so synthetic filling is a mist for bedding here. Something I've always had to make a point of checking when staying in hotels, though it's pretty rare to come across feather bedding these days even there.

Figures that with the amount of things I am allergic to that the one test that was notable in not reacting at all was pollen! So despite a list as long as my arm of things I need to keep an eye out for (thankfully nothing food related), I don't suffer from hay fever.

At least you didn't suffer from the guys at the tip insisting you were in a van and refusing to let you offload without a permit as I had happen with the Caddy. Though I do sometimes think the guys at New Bradwell are just looking for ways to be difficult.

Thought that was part of the standard Tip Worker Training Course! :rofl2:

Although there's one or two at the tip who are actually friendly and helpful, am sure they'll have that rectified in due course!

I have to disagree there chaps. Our super douper ultra modern recycling centrre is staffed by friendly and knowledgeable people who do whatever they can to help the users sort and file their unwanteds how and where the should be. The site has parking for 30+ vehicles in bays backing onto the various skips. Clean and tidy always and with an excellent recycled goods shop for reusable items. Great range of bikes, TVs, audio kit and sports equipment as well as furniture and toys and games. There are even rumours a coffee shop in the offing!! I'll add a link to the bottom of this in a minute as I am using the phone and likely to lose this if I go looking for the link from here! :-D

This link takes you to the website telling all about the site although the original video I was looking for seems to have been removed! Within the page there is a further link to the re-use shop and shows its activities!!

Taking the old carpets and allied rubbish to the tip myself (which now is all complete after 4 loads) saved me a lot of money on the carpet deal Zel. My new carpets were supplied and fitted by one of our long-established small local companies - always like to keep things local if I can. These small outfits have to pay a fortune to dispose of old stuff so for a cost of a few thimbles of diesel and time, the savings made huge sense. Plus, as you know, my tip is less than a mile away.

I found our tip staff incredibly friendly and helpful. One tip run was at the end of their working day, it was empty and I spent a good 20 minutes chatting to the staff. Can't fault them. Maybe the Paggers tip is a happier place than the Brad'all tip...

Allergies: I used to be very allergic to feather and down but no longer. Likewise cats and cage birds. I've had loads of food allergies in the past and once, a very bad dust allergy but over time they've largely resolved... I went on a process of regularly and carefully exposing myself to allergens to find if I was still affected; I got some very pleasant surprises.

I find these days, they can come and go. Currently, peanut butter is a problem. Milk used to be and now I drink loads and loads of it. I fully expect at some point in the future it'll be a problem for a while and then go again. With me, I think it's all down to the 'fun' ME brings to the party...

With huge thanks to Mick yesterday, we got all done despite a hiccup with the IKEA delivery when poor Mick witnessed perhaps, a side of me he'd not see before   We, more Mick than I by an order of magnitude, moved mountains and I slept very well on my new bed after a nice lounge listening to a bit of Pink Floyd sprawled across my new sofa :D

I can second this :D I have had the pleasure of a visit to this establishment and it's a treat. I was disappointed the shop was not open when we went but possibly for the best in my case!

Used to be at our tip and every visit was a drudge but as I say, ours seem to have had a big change of attitude - or maybe I was just lucky!

The staff at our local tip are also very friendly and accommodating, know my daughter on first name terms from when she used to be there half a dozen times a day when she moved into her new house and ripped it to bits.
There were no limits on how many trips a day you could do but I think it is five now.

It's been a bit wet here today... Got soaked timekeeping at parkrun in torrential rain  Did OK though by keeping my phone, on which the timekeeping app. runs, in a big plastic bag to keep raindrops off the screen - which can be interpreted as phantom runners - and to keep the phone dry.

Continuing the timekeeping theme, I did a bit of work on my two grandfather clocks. Both were not happy at being disturbed for the new carpets and one decided to start gaining by about a minute a day after my work the other day to get it back 'in-tick'. I've made an adjustment to the pendulum length and it may need more fine micro adjustments over the coming days to get it back to keeping its usual excellent time.

My other one is not so happy. I can't get it into what to me is nicely 'in-tick'... I have a feeling it's well overdue for a big overhaul. According to a note inside it, dad last serviced it in 1998 so it's well due for a major overhaul of the sort I gave my other one in January of last year...

They're sensitive old things and hate being disturbed.

I love my clocks :)

Absolutely :-D And I do love giving them as much time as they need to be happy and content... I derive a lot of pleasure from making a clock tick perfectly and keep good time...

Definitely on the mend now and starting to feel more like my old self :D

I managed a little baby-steps run this morning :) Not far, not fast, not pretty and it hurt but I did it! That's all that matters :-D
Strava
Strava
All my top fitness has gone but that'll soon return ;)

I'll be taking my bike for a ride later this morning - I hear the coffee machine at the BikeBus calling my name :)

Then I plan to give Strawberry a little outing :D

Lots of car work planned over the next few days... The reason will soon be evident ;)

The bike ride to the BikeBus was magical - met a good friend on the way and met many more at the venue. Stayed far longer than planned and rode home with another very good friend who told me she's moving to the North-East. I'm heartbroken but at least I'll have yet another reason to visit that part of the world ;)

After lunch there was only one thing to do: take Strawberry out for a joyride :D And what a joy she is  She may only have 954cc under her bonnet but when coupled with a kerbweight approaching that of an empty biscuit tin she does motor along in a most satisfactory way :-D

Lots to do in the week. I'm planning on rustproofing Bluebell underneath ready for the winter. It's an ideal time to do it as the week promises to be warm and dry for a change.

Followed by a bit of work on Strawberry. Her clutch needs a small adjustment and her cambelt is, I judge, a little tight for comfort.

Then I need to get her looking her best for the CCC Chevrons Rally in September. I also need to make Bluebell shine for her rally appearance this Saturday at Redbourne :)
