Taking the old carpets and allied rubbish to the tip myself (which now is all complete after 4 loads) saved me a lot of money on the carpet deal Zel. My new carpets were supplied and fitted by one of our long-established small local companies - always like to keep things local if I can. These small outfits have to pay a fortune to dispose of old stuff so for a cost of a few thimbles of diesel and time, the savings made huge sense. Plus, as you know, my tip is less than a mile away.
I found our tip staff incredibly friendly and helpful. One tip run was at the end of their working day, it was empty and I spent a good 20 minutes chatting to the staff. Can't fault them. Maybe the Paggers tip is a happier place than the Brad'all tip...
Allergies: I used to be very allergic to feather and down but no longer. Likewise cats and cage birds. I've had loads of food allergies in the past and once, a very bad dust allergy but over time they've largely resolved... I went on a process of regularly and carefully exposing myself to allergens to find if I was still affected; I got some very pleasant surprises.
I find these days, they can come and go. Currently, peanut butter is a problem. Milk used to be and now I drink loads and loads of it. I fully expect at some point in the future it'll be a problem for a while and then go again. With me, I think it's all down to the 'fun' ME brings to the party...
With huge thanks to Mick yesterday, we got all done despite a hiccup with the IKEA delivery when poor Mick witnessed perhaps, a side of me he'd not see before

We, more Mick than I by an order of magnitude, moved mountains and I slept very well on my new bed after a nice lounge listening to a bit of Pink Floyd sprawled across my new sofa

I have to disagree there chaps. Our super douper ultra modern recycling centrre is staffed by friendly and knowledgeable people who do whatever they can to help the users sort and file their unwanteds how and where the should be. The site has parking for 30+ vehicles in bays backing onto the various skips. Clean and tidy always and with an excellent recycled goods shop for reusable items. Great range of bikes, TVs, audio kit and sports equipment as well as furniture and toys and games. There are even rumours a coffee shop in the offing!!
I can second this

I have had the pleasure of a visit to this establishment and it's a treat. I was disappointed the shop was not open when we went but possibly for the best in my case!

I do sometimes think the guys .... are just looking for ways to be difficult.
Thought that was part of the standard Tip Worker Training Course!
Used to be at our tip and every visit was a drudge but as I say, ours seem to have had a big change of attitude - or maybe I was just lucky!
