And Strawberry is now taxed and ready to go for a nice little road trip
I learned the hard way if you apply for the new V5C on change of keeper and then immediately declare SORN - as I did, being the good law-abider I am, I then found you have to wait at least five days before you can then tax on-line :surprised:
I suppose there's a reason. Not one that I can determine though...
Against that, the new V5C arrived within two days
Later on today I'll report on how a well-sorted low-mileage AX drives...

Rain has temporarily stopped play with the Strawberry Joyride event... No worries as I've had plenty to do, not lest catching up on overdue Duke of Edinburgh Award assessment reports... For our parkrun D of E volunteers it's a real pleasure to write them; they have all been absolutely wonderful youngsters and give great hope for the future.
Looking through Strawberry's history file I was pleased to see just how clean she was at her last MoT emissions test
Who says carb'd engines are dirty? Not little 954cc TU engines for sure and with figures like that who needs a cat

Re: Citrojim's AX, Pixo, C3, Running and Cycling Tales
Sadly, no Strawberry Joyride today She's not broken but I am
The slightly hurty thigh muscle I woke up with yesterday morning has developed into something very much more through the course of the day. Currently I can barely walk and the transition between sitting and standing and vice-versa is agonising. If anything falls on the floor it stays there... If I could sit in an AX it's unlikely I could get out again any time soon. Even Polly is hard to get in and out of and drive
Feels like I've pulled or torn my left Gluteus Maximus. It is absolutely, literally and accurately a pain in the bum! Goodness knows how it happened... All I know is it happened overnight and in bed I feel a visit to my trusted sports physio may be in order if it does not soon start to improve.
In happier news, the carport is now on order. This is what it will look like
Tis is not my house but is of a very similar layout and gives a very good feel of how it will look...
It will overlap the end of my pitched garage roof enough to ensure there's no gap between the garage roof and carport and I'll be able to work on cars under it in the pouring rain and stay dry - as our climate gets wetter that may well be one very big point in its favour!
I'll be looking to have a proper outdoor power socket and more lighting installed in the carport once it's built.

Nice one Matt I've not told my neighbours yet their garage doors will have the name of the company painted onto them!MattBLancs wrote: ↑06 Aug 2024, 19:33 Sorry Jim, I just can't quite get to grips with it, could you add a Cavalier for scale?
Happy to report the bum is a lot less sore this morning - I can walk again I may even be able to take Strawberry out for a run this morning...
I very definitely won't be. I will be taking a break from running and cycling now until all is again 100% good

That's it Matt! My garage doors are 'tagged' with AX and Saxo headlight beam patterns for alignment purposesMattBLancs wrote: ↑07 Aug 2024, 06:53Ah, that's that "Tagging" thing what them youths do, isn't it?

Re: Citrojim's AX, Pixo, C3, Running and Cycling Tales
Ahead of a trip out tomorrow and given my muscle issues, I needed to check which vehicle would be most suitable.
Polly was tested first and whilst she was OK to drive she proved very difficult and painful to get in and out of. Very surprised.
I then took Strawberry out for my first proper drive in her Easy to get into and comfortable.
We enjoyed an awesome little drive and went further than intended. I was able to get out at the end fairly painlessly and without great difficulty
Strawberry really does drive beautifully Less is definitely more. No prizes for guessing what car will be going on a road trip tomorrow

Slightly on the mend I managed a slow 1 mile walk this afternoon... Several snails raced past me

I took the J plated one to be a visitor from the Cannel Islands, Jersey reg nos are J and six digits.CitroJim wrote: ↑04 Aug 2024, 16:23 One wonders where all this super-sizing of cars is going to come to an end? I keep on thinking there has to be a limit but still they keep on expanding...
I still consider my C3 Picasso to be a big car but allegedly it's just a Mini-MPV...
I've tried to decode what the plate on the BMW is trying to spell but I stand defeated... J SCOOBY is clear enough on the Nissan.
Look carefully and you may be able to see Bluebell's (and Strawberry's) plates are technically illegal as they have no maker's names on them and no BSAU certification marks. They are of the correct font and correctly spaced but otherwise plain. How I like them.
