Oh yes Neil, strawberries are very rampant once they get going... My garden becomes full of them after a couple of years and I need to grub them all up and restart a new bed of them with the best of the new runners.

I have been told I must now always have them in my garden. Orders from both Autumn and her mum!

I've been looking into carports today and as long as the thing does not project beyond the front elevation, as you say Zel, no permission is needed.

So I'm going ahead...

Nobody locally seems keen to supply and fit them with any great enthusiasm so I'm looking at buying a kit and considering building it myself and no doubt in doing so, save a lot of labour costs...

I'm looking at this one:

https://www.masterplastics.co.uk/store/ ... r-car-port

This is just an example... They can be tailored to the size you need...

I'm also looking to get all new carpets in my house... I have to be careful not to get the two activities confused else I'll end up with a carpeted driveway

Ha ha, I love the image with a very new looking Cavalier parked underneath! Clearly an era appropriate car port for your AX !

As I said in another thread Matt, I never even noticed the car until pointed out - and to think I owned one in the early 90s... It was actually a very, very good car :)

Shows how bad my cognitive issues are these days   This morning I've received a few messages about silly obvious typos I made across several social media platforms yesterday :( All those not 'caught' by the spell checker - something these days I rely upon very heavily...

I'm sitting here feeling quite sad about it with the realisation things are not getting any better in that respect.

Morning Jim,

Sorry to hear you are feeling sad, though you've made a few typos and missed a Cavalier when, quite sensibly were actually focused on the bit of the image you are in the market for buying (i.e. the carport!) ...

... equally, you've also provided a quick snippet of encyclopedic knowledge on the mini / A series engine - here: viewtopic.php?p=808006#p808006

I hope those pulling you up on typos did so with good humour rather than malice :) and more importantly you are able to see the positives

P.S. yes I've heard the Cavalier was supposed to be quite good.

Nearest exposure to them was my dad had a red MK3 Astra estate for many years when I was growing up - maximum poverty in Merit trim and gutless 1.7 non-turbo (Isuzu) engine form. I'm sure it was on 155 section tyres which looks pretty slim on a little Corsa, just looked like the wrong wheels = it had them from new. L588XFW long since off to the toad the MOT history search suggests.

P.s. again!

I make many, many typos (many which auto correct turns into something else for me without me noticing) and I tend to read what I've posted, groan, then usually hit edit to fix what I have invariably spotted. Repeat 3 or 4 times on occasions!

There's a typo in my post above, left in as is well into "amusingly wrong"

A clue under the spoiler

Thanks Matt, that's appreciated 😊 I'm a bit of an early Mini fan - was my first car and dad had a few. The car that influenced me most in my formative years and these days I'd love an early Mini but sadly, the massive prices asked for them means they're way out of reach.

Mini and I will always be a bit special as we are the same age. I was a month old when the first Mini appeared...

One message pointing out my mistakes touched a bit of a nerve... News that Autumn is an order of magnitude better this morning has perked me up though :D

To say I was worried about her would be a bit of an understatement...

Matt, save yourself the edit/post, edit/post, edit/post routine and use the preview button before submitting! Same job with no chance of being quoted before you have edited out your errors, as happened to me just yesterday when Jim quoted my erroneous post as I was editing so now both forms can be seen on the thread!! I'll let the curious find that example! :-D
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!

Good to hear she is recovering well Jim which in turn helps you regain cognitive powers! :)

Yes, that's a good idea, I do use preview but usually to try and make sure I've got the images somewhere near the right order in amongst my waffling!

I don't have autocorrect, fortunately, but am quite thankful for the red wiggly worm highlighting my spelling mistakes, which seem to be increasing geometrically.
Quite frequently a word will be spelled sdrawkcab!

Increasingly often though, the suggestions offered are complete nonsense.

Yes, the red wiggly things save my bacon, some of the time, too!

Have to communicate purely in palindromes ** as a workaround to the sdrawkcab issue!? :rofl2:

** had to Google "word same backwards and forwards" to remind myself of that term!!

I love palindromes - both of the word and number variety :)

Saves me so often and only lets me down when I mis-type a word that is correctly spelt but with a totally different meaning to that intended. Just then I typed lest when I meant to type lets. Spelt OK but still a typo.

I gave Strawberry a good bath today :-D She scrubs up rather well...

Her paint is a bit dull in places and she needs a good polish... An application of the superb Bilt Hamber Auto Balm does a great job and the difference can be seen on this small area I did on her bonnet...

As she has no radio fitted and I have a few early S1 ex-XM radios I thought I'd see if one might fit. Sadly the AX radio accommodation is quite shallow and nowhere near deep enough for the XM radio.
Bluebell's doing a little bit of photobombing - again!
Bluebell's doing a little bit of photobombing - again!
For now, if I need to listen to the radio I'll use my Bluetooth speaker and phone. The blanking 'cubby-hole' will stay - unless a genuine AX radio turns up. I can't imagine there's many still about without a radio of some form so this makes her a bit special.

She's in need of lots of little bits of TLC and will keep me gainfully occupied for a while. Fundamentally, she's very sound indeed.

It's happened :!: as I knew it would. Permit me one token cringe Jim from Chez Falcon if you will, on your first use day as confirmation of the official name. I will of course follow the adventures of your little Red AX with great interest as ever , as I have for the Blue one and the now departed White one, and the now departed White Saxo before that :-D

As a homage and in no way a Falcon endorsement of the naming activity thing, the shade of red I chose for the font colour for the S-word is no ordinary red, but is the red selected from the Falcon Wild Strawberry picture previously posted :-D In big letters here too. I have named the unique colour

Falcon Northumberland Wild Strawberry Red
Red 223 Green 48 blue 45 = #DF302D

Strawberry

I was wondering if you had the most barebones car on the FCF now, Jim, but I think you might lose out to Zel and his Invacar - if for no other reason than he makes do with only 3 wheels whilst you have a positively decadent 4 wheels :rofl2:
