Scrap steel, about 10 pence / kg ! :)

I've driven the HDi Grand Space Picasso Tourer, Jim - think my dad's was the 1.6 HDi and a recent hire car would have been the 1.5 based on its age.

Goes fine, the DV6 / DV5 copes fine.

I finally went out for a short bike ride today, after a long absence (or so it seems). It was just to the BikeBus for two hours of solid socialising and coffee consumption. My newly serviced bike is a pleasure to ride, albeit slowly today :D

That was after a massive 'power-up' from attending Junior parkrun this morning... It's like all the children transfer all their excess energy to the tired adults there :)

Works for me!

Well in my view you can only have " a massive 'power-up' " if you start off with "...I'm utterly wrecked today..." so I'll claim the credit for that too!! :rofl2:
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

Looking back on the past 24 hours from 6PM last evening until 6PM this evening it's been sleep - Junior parkrun - short sleep - ride to and back from the BikeBus - long sleep (most of the afternoon) - get something to eat and then to bed around 8PM..

Currently I'm spending more time asleep than awake  The sleeping pattern of a cat...

I doubt it Matt, I think he probably used the one I used on our Pennine Way ride in 2020 which you can catch up with here if you have an hour or three with nothing better to do!! :-D

My laptop now has a nice new keyboard and a full complement of working keys :D

It was ever so easy to fit. Just three screws... Took longer to watch the hateful YouTube video on how to do the job than it did to do

A few lines of text and one or two pictures in a PDF document would have been much better... And much easier to work with...

Well, a good rest can help your body to recover from illnesses and so on. I remember a story from James Herriot where he was visiting a sheep farm, and there was a ewe that looked like it was dying (that is what both the farmer and James believed). For financial reasons the farmer could not have it humanely put down, so (when nobody was looking) James gave the ewe a massive sleeping dose. Several days later James had to visit the farm again, and to his surprise that ewe was up and healthy. That very long sleep allowed her to recover. James used this discovery to help other animals.

I remember that one James :) One of the events that stand out in that superb collection of vet-tales... I've read all the books and enjoyed every one of them.

I do believe sleep is good and can do wonderful things... I have found I'm now even more intolerant of moderately late nights and if I do have one, as I did on Monday - 9PM, it took me all of Tuesday to recover  It's not fun but it's what it is...

Whilst I'm like I am, I'm busy planning a lot of activity on Bluebell to make her even better than she currently is...

I'm a bit livelier today and maybe worth repeating here what I put on social media this morning after getting out for a bit of fresh air...
A nice gentle run early this morning 🏃‍♂️ 🙂 Feeling a bit of an improvement after sleeping most of yesterday 😴

I'm still very much bumping along at the bottom of the curve but the trend appears to be on the up 😏

All volunteer work, with the exception of Junior parkrun, is on indefinite hold until my recovery is complete. To this there will be absolutely no exceptions.

For that recovery to progress I need lots and lots of social contact and coffee so always happy to meet up at a nearby café for a chat, coffee and cake 😋
I'm seeing Autumn and Robyn later today - that covers the last paragraph of the above rather nicely ;) :)

Re Herriot, a target Jim....bring to your blog your own original photo of a recreation of this opening credits scene from the original ACGAS. A blue hatchback would be ideal but not compulsory :-D

It were a "grand day out" in the Bargain Basement Clio for the Falcons on tour in Heriot Country in 2018.

That depends on which version of ACGAS that was filmed. You have the original from 1978 (with Christopher Timothy and Robert Hardy), or the recent version starting in 2020 (with Nicholas Ralph and Samuel West).
