Hungry work filling a car boot to that extent, I'd have likely ended up with the same end state:

Sadly, the truth is that it is used to hold a load of lanyards containing emergency information for the marshals, the goodies it originally contained having gone years ago

The reason it's empty is all the lanyards end up getting all mixed up with the Hi-Viz as the marshals divest themselves of them (or is that de-vest?)... Speaking of which, I have the Hi-Viz from three parkruns to launder this week. That'll be getting on for 100 of the blighters... All are damp and will soon be smelly...

Poor planning there Jim, I think that "years old" tub is probably, err, getting a touch worn out by now, have to try and pick up a (full) replacement one
Good luck with the hundred stinky high Viz, it's not so much the washing of them as getting dry again! We need more of the crisp, cool, winter days (as we've discussed previously!) And then can get stuff out on the line. A sea of yellow vests hung up would be a nice unique Picture of the day candidate too

Re: Citrojim's AX, Pixo, C3, Running and Cycling Tales
Speaking of Neil, there's a long article aimed squarely at him on the BBC
Brick collecting in the north of England
Consett and Stanley brick enthusiasts build up their collections
"Chris Tilney has 2,000 bricks in his garden, give or take. His interest was piqued in 2018 and he's been "a bit obsessive" ever since. Five years later he's still on the hunt, scouring maps and swapping spares with other equally obsessed collectors.
For Chris, as for many brick collectors, it's the names stamped on them that matter - the brickworks or colliery where they were made, the works' owner, or both.
Occasionally this puts them in competition with people who just fancy a pretty thing with a nice word on it. Bearing just his surname, Joseph Horatio Love's bricks are understandably quite popular as ornaments."

The first batch of Hi-Viz are currently draped around my lounge, airing after a short spell in the dryer...
I will indeed get a photo... Big parkrun ones are orange, blue and magenta. You won't see yellow ones until I do the Jonior parkrun Hi-Viz...

A very big and significant day today...
I achieved my parkrun 250th volunteer milestone, timekeeping at a very busy event. I timed 364 runners with 100% accuracy
And then I went for a 10K run to celebrate before putting another mass of parkrun admin. to bed
A cracking start to 2024

Hmmm - I take it there's no 2nd stopwatch, so the timekeeper's decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered intoCitroJim wrote: 01 Jan 2024, 17:14 A very big and significant day today...

Thanks Alec
Our parkrun 'stopwatches' are actually smartphone apps. We still use a proper traditional one when timing TT races...
I pride myself on my timekeeping skills, both at parkrun and at TT races - where we do only have one timer...

We usually have a backup timer at the larger events but I often fly solo as it's my speciality and dare I say it, my skill... Only one timer is used, the one judged most accurate, but if both are in error they can be compared to make a good composite, plus our results processing system allows a lot of scope for finessing the results.Armidillo wrote: 03 Jan 2024, 11:55 Hmmm - I take it there's no 2nd stopwatch, so the timekeeper's decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into![]()

Re: Citrojim's AX, Pixo, C3, Running and Cycling Tales
I ran the parkrun early course check this morning and declared it unfit...
Like many in our local area, following a bit of rain, we took the difficult decision to cancel. Having webbed feet and being born and brought up on the Somerset Levels where such conditions are normal, even in summer, and having webbed feet I loved running it. The water gave my very muddy heavy trail shoes a good wash!
At one point I was happily running through water a foot deep
Sadly, most people hate running in such conditions and cancellation was the only sensible option really. Few love it as I do...
This was near my house this morning. When I went out for my bike ride it had risen considerably. Houses on the right-hand side are now inundated... The floodplain by me is now full.
And today I received a present from parkrun
A nice tee to proudly wear tomorrow...
And finally, cars... I gave Polly a good check over and an interior clean and nothing of any interest to report...
All four tyres were bang-on pressure. Since that incident with one appearing to have a slow puncture and having a new valve and a re-seat of the beads there's been no further problem.
