Dash cam installed :)

Maybe not technically the best position but mounted here I could fully hide the cable with only a short bit exposed to connect to the camera and a short bit at the other end to plug into one of the fag lighter sockets. Any other place on the windscreen would have caused problems with cable routing and making it a nice tidy installation.

On test it works tremendously well and the video quality is excellent... I've taken it out for a test drive. The smartphone app works well and is good for reviewing video. If the video is needed to be seen at its best the SD card can be very easily popped out and mounted on a PC for looking at using a proper video player.

It's a Garmin Mini 2. Not cheap but highly recommended.

And now I'm busy turning.

More on that later :)

Buggered my dashcam attempting to extract the µUSB card. Got it out OK but buggered the screen doing it :(

Out of interest Steve I find it easier to simply unplug the camera's in car lead and plug in a lead to the laptop to download the video. It avoids damaging or miss seating the TF card. :-D

That was unfortunate Steve :(

The SD card in mine pops in and out very easily, I don't even have to dismount the camera to do it...

After years of popping the SD cards in and out of my bike cams and into the laptop adaptor to view footage I've never occasioned any damage to either the cards of cameras Mick. A bit like MicroUSB connectors, they're a lot tougher than they look ;)

The main reason I do it that way is that I have to swivel the camera in its mount to get to the card which means messing about with it to get it right again afterwards, much easier just to swap the plugs!! :-D

Yes, that makes perfect sense... How I've mounted mine I don't have that issue at all... One reason I chose to mount it as I did. Another reason is I can easily push the audio recording on button (normally the camera does not record audio but at times it may be valuable to record audio, as I think you found Steve) and the instant save current recording session button.

I had installed it incorrectly somehow. Once I got it out I tried it a couple of times and it was fine.
The mount was quite precarious and it hadn't been touched since I installed it and the buttons are too small for me to see the legends on them, as is the USB slot.

Jim and Mick on guitars - any takers for drums, keyboards, brass, vocals etc ? \:D/
Well I do own this.

Yes, it's a real one.
IMG_20231220_193452.jpg
Sadly don't really know how to play it properly...I can noodle around sounding mostly vaguely tuneful, but that's it. A friend had offered to give me some proper lessons, then proceeded to move to bloody New Zealand!

There are also more guitars in this house than you can shake a stick at, several inherited from my father. Again...I can make vaguely tuneful noises but actually playing a song is another matter!

If it's OK with you, Zel, can we have the band coming on stage to Toccata and Fugue in D minor played by you on the organ ? Shouldn't be too difficult to accomplish :-D

Every year about this time we have a special job to do in Redway Runners... That's to get the local Milton Keynes-based Santas up to peak fitness for their night's work very soon.

We do that by taking them for a long and hard run :)
20231223_094049.jpg
I lie, it was actually a little family fun-run we do every year called the Santa Saunter where the reward for finishing is a Cadbury's selection box of choccy bars, a mince pie, a slice of cake and a cup of hot chocolate complete with marshmallows... It is huge fun and the ideal way to begin the festivities :)

As it started very close to the end of parkrun, I chose to actually run the Milton Keynes one today rather than volunteer. I've only ran three parkruns this year but volunteered virtually every week. So far, I'm on my 94th parkrun and my 245th parkrun volunteer day. I'm approaching my very significant 250th volunteer milestone and a special plan to celebrate it has been hatched :)

Here's me looking very happy to have run a parkrun for a change :)
received_1291857378167949~3.jpeg
Tomorrow I'll achieve my 246th volunteer day by timekeeping at MK Juniors and on Christmas Day my 247th by timekeeping at the special Linford Wood parkrun :D

So far, I've been timekeeper on 88 occasions... One of my favourite roles. A somewhat of a Marmite one. Most hate the role because it's so critical and requires 100% concentration but there are a few like me who revel in the challenge... Timekeeping a Junior parkrun is an order of magnitude trickier than at big parkrun as keeping the kids in line and in order at the finish funnel is akin to herding cats...

Santa has delivered ;)

Has he ever! He was on top form this year in knowing just exactly what I wanted :D

The perfect gift and absolutely magical

He also hit gold with some other stuff too :D

It's been one heck of a Christmas Day, split almost equally between parkrun and the family...

Good bit of kit, I've got the drill/driver version of that which has proven infinitely useful. Now you've got the batteries etc it makes future tools in their range seem cheaper too as you can get the body only. They're quite often on sale at Toolstation.

This is basically the "grab bag" which accompanies the socket set to pretty much any unknown task.
