Did Daffodil actually give her consent for this modification?

She did, by making the job all straightforward :) I know when my cars don't offer their consent and support - they make the job exceedingly difficult

Additionally, Daffodil was happy to accept this departure from authenticity as a way of saying thanks for recent work done and giving her a lovely warm and dry garage to live in :-D

If only I could have made this happen over Christmas... I could have connected this with a well-loved Pretenders song ;)

As it says, running shoes should be replaced every 500 miles at least...

And most have to as they are falling apart by then. With me they just go on and on and on...

It may be my weight or the way I run... Hence I'm known as 'Twinkle toes' in my running community

And here's the shoes that have run those 2,000 miles...

And they're still good. If anything, the more miles they do the more comfy they become...

I have a new pair waiting in the wings for when they do decide to give up...

Unsurprisingly, another pair of the same make and model...

No way Mick! I use a different technology when running to listen to the radio :D

Internet BBC Sounds on an old PAYG mobile phone to a pair of bone conductor headphones...

I always carry a 'phone in case of emergencies occurring during my runs...

Internet radio works exceedingly well :) Provided there's a signal on the 'phone..

I'm surprised at just how little data an Internet radio stream uses :o

This morning's run in very cold and frosty weather marks day 150 of my current run streak 🏃???😃

That's 150 consecutive days of running whatever the weather or how I'm feeling... It's been a struggle on a few of those days...

I'm continuing and will keep the streak going as long as I can...

Depending how basic your phone is, you might want to try installing a podcast player. I use "Podcast Addict" which is configured to automatically download a few favourite audio blogs (French language because I am supposed to be learning it) when in range of wifi, so that there is a reserve of content for when I am walking outside of phone data coverage (which is 90% of the time).

Thanks Mike :D That's an excellent thought.. I shall be looking into that as I rather enjoy a podcast from time to time but find them hard to manage on a mobile phone. I usually end up downloading the MP3 of the podcast and listening to it through the phone's music player... Hardly ideal...

I'd just finished watching telly last evening - a tremendously brilliant episode of A Touch of Frost - and was on my way to bed, all supremely relaxed and happy, when I did my usual and looked outside...

I thought I was seeing things  Robyn's C1 was sitting just behind my Saxo... WTF  But no Robyn :? And WTF again

A look at my 'phone, which had been on Do Not Disturb since six showed several WhatsApp messages and missed calls from Robyn...

I called her...

"Dad, Eyelashes is making horrible rattling and grinding noises and I'm really worried... It started when I was driving through town and decided it was best to drop her at yours before any damage was done... I knew it was late and did not want to worry you by knocking on your door so late at night..."

It didn't take me long to diagnose the cause... A quick look under the rear revealed this...
brokenbb.jpg
The silencer box hanger had let go and the pipe was bouncing on the axle beam...
hngingbb.jpg
So nothing serious :D

A click and collect with GSF saw me taking a drive over to the other side of MK to pick up a new one...

Happily, they're not hard to fit and I was even able to reuse the old clamp :)

But by gosh, was it cold this morning 🥶 The wind chill made it feel like I was working at the South Pole

Only for a daughter would I fit an exhaust in such weather :) The definition of true love 💛

Eyelashes is now seven years old and is wearing extremely well. The old S1 C1s are really rather good little cars... All she's had in that time is one battery, one set of front discs and pads, one set of tyres and now a back box...

Robyn is thinking of changing it in the not too distant... If she does I'll be very tempted to have it back... Looks like I may have to pay her for a car I originally bought brand new and then gave to her... That's kids for you

Just before I left for GSF I did a quick install of the DAB Radio adaptor into Sally :)
sallydab.jpg
This new one works absolutely brilliantly so I've ordered a second one so that both Sally and Daffodil have one :) And at zero cost by cashing in some vouchers I had been accumulating :)

The location in the corner of the windscreen is good and quite ergonomic.

The hands-free 'phone, Bluetooth and MicroSD MP3 play bits seem to work well on it too...

It must be a subset of covid 19 affecting backboxes. I am in the middle of sorting mine, story here, but not as urgent as Robyn's!! :-D

They must have been talking to each other and came out in sympathy!

Oh yes, I have to do my best to keep our nursing staff on the road :D Is a C1 the modern equivalent of Nurse Gladys' white Morris Minor?

Mind you, had push came to shove I'd have lent her Sally for a few days...

One reason I may well snatch the C1 back if Robyn does get another car is so that we have a family spare car for such eventualities... Given that it's free of tax and costs pennies to insure it's won't be too expensive to keep on that basis... Plus I'm real enough to know there will come a time when Sally may fail beyond economic repair... Hopefully not yet though...

I've warned her that if she does get another car the chances that I'll be able to effectively service and repair it for her will be slim... I fear the C1 is at the very edge of my ability to fix moderns...

Rubbish Jim, they are all cars, you may just have to learn some new stuff but nothing beyond your capability I'm sure!! :-D
