And that would be me too... You'd never believe the mess I can make with anything liquid... Especially sticky liquids... Never trust me with a tube of glue or a gun full of silicone sealant!

Same here - I tipped a 10L tub of white emulsion paint into the pristine boot of the Civic.
The the following week managed to get some white silicone sealer on my jacket. And trousers. And the formerly pristine drivers seat of the Civic, again.

That suggests that, sub-consciously at least, you HATE the Civic!

I recall changing the oil in one of my cars years ago and using a 5 litre oil container with the side cut off as a drain pan, as we used to.

Job done, came to drag the aforementioned thing from under the car, absentmindedly picked it up in the conventional manner with the handle....

When we moved my sister and brother-in-law to their new house in Biggin Hill in the 70's Bob (aforementioned in September Stroll) and I hired a 7.5 ton truck with tail lift and loaded all the furniture in the back in Watford and then went to bed ready for an early start next day. Unknown to us my brother-in-law remembered some bits in the shed and popped them into the back of the truck while we were asleep. Next morning we got up and headed off to Kent only to find their new home was halfway down a 1 in 5ish hill on an unmade road. We entered from the top and bounced our way down to the new drive where we parked and went in for refreshments before unloading. My sister had taken tea, kettle and sandwiches in her car for that very reason. After refreshment we went out to unload and upon walking round the back we were somewhat dismayed :( to see a thick white gloopy stuff dripping out round the tail lift. Once we opened up we found a small wooden crate on its side with two 5 litre cans of white emulsion with their lids popped and with about 1/3 of the contents left. The rest were all over the settee and mattress and generally sprinkled over the rest of the contents of the van!!. It took us 2.5 hours to get the van empty and then another 3 to clean it ready to return but I don't think my sister ever got the furniture clean again. At least it was neither of us that had been daft enough to leave the crate there unsecured!! #-o #-o :)

You have just reminded me that I had a job north of Newcastle. Called in at the Sigma warehouse in Team Valley, bought a load of paint and drove on.
I thought that the trees by the road smelled nice but then: Why am I smelling trees? Never have previously - and I had been working there for a month.
A gallon of yellow emulsion had tipped over and the lid came off. Very nice smelling emulsion but I was in my daughter's car, her pride and joy Fiesta.
Had to go to the job, strip the seats and carpet out, replace the drivers seat and then drive to a petrol station to jetwash the carpet and wash out the floor, took days to dry the carpet, fortunately there was a two car garage and the house was unoccupied.

I've just read your spilt paint tales Mick and Steve...  What shocking situations to be in :( Luckily I've never had such a disaster with paint, maybe because I work hard to avoid any dealings with it at all... Hence I don't DIY... I'm happy to pay someone else to do work on my house...

I don't paint cars either...

The worst thing I've ever had spilt in a car is milk  It was in my almost brand-new MG Metro in Cyprus... The heat did not help!

Despite carpets out and much shampooing I don't believe I ever fully got rid of the small of sour milk

I got a bit more done on Daffodil today :)

First was a very important job...
Fluffy dice installation...
Fluffy dice installation...
The last car these were in was my red Activa :)

The second job was to free off he rear bleed nipples ahead of replacing the brake drums...
Dampness is Plus Gas and not brake fluid...
Dampness is Plus Gas and not brake fluid...
Happily, the nipples on both sides freed off with just a squirt of Plus Gas and a bit of care :D

I'm hoping to start replacing the drums tomorrow, weather permitting...

The only reason they need replacement is due to damaged wheel stud threads - no doubt due to over-zealous tyre fitters and their rattle guns in the past...

With new drums I'll also install new wheel bearings...

Could you let Michel have the old drums, Jim? I think his son might appreciate some more percussive instruments! :D

EDIT; Corrected typo.

 I've had fluffy dice in my cars for ever Mick, ever since I was a teenager... For some reason that escapes me they never got installed in Sally after I took them out of my Activa... That particular set must be getting on for 20 year old and a few years ago the cord between them rotted away... Replaced with fishing line...

We've found a subject where we are poles apart there Jim, I can't stand anything at all swinging from the mirror when I'm driving. :-D :-D
