It's good to giggle at this time of the morning ahead of a very cold run :)

From some of your old forum posts over the years Jim you should know your way around :-D Hope the scenery is authentic with a few old motors still lying around the place.

I do indeed Neil and there's (or were) loads of compounds containing abandoned cars following the 1974 war when the island was partitioned...

Many of the best compounds were on the 'Green Line' in Nicosia

They are all owned by people displaced by the war hence them being impounded... Sadly, the owners had/have no way of retrieving them...

Now they're all very desirable classics and I regularly see them in various 'Rust in Peace' features in the classic press...

It was not only cars... On Nicosia airport apron there was, in the 80s, a number of aircraft that were trapped there, including a few airliners... I had the privilege of seeing them... BOAC Tridents if I remember correctly... Or maybe BAC 1-11s. It was along time ago now...

Onto happier topics, I enjoyed a great bike ride today in the most glorious winter weather :D

I wish!

No, in the time I was there I had an MG Metro and a Volvo 144 as my 'Bondhu Basher'. It was my daily driver and did all the rough work to ensure the Metro remained in top nick ready for import back into Blighty at the end of my tour...

Back in the 80s Cypriot roads were appalling... As was the driving standards... To run a decent car as a daily driver was a sure way of ruining it...

Day 2 of the Cyprus International 4 Day Virtual Challenge completed this morning :D

It was a very frosty run and black ice was a-plenty

Due to the ice I took it very gently and carefully. I can't risk a fall and an injury at this stage... Especially as I'm getting near my record of 80 consecutive days of running. I'm currently on day 74 :)

Hills are not plentiful around here but I did choose a route to make it as hilly as possible ;)

Day 1
Tomorrow's run is a half marathon. I plan to do this in the usual place - Salcey Forest :D If I manage it, that'll be my 10th half marathon in 10 consecutive weekends :)

Then the challenge ends on Sunday with a nice little 10K run...

If you go to one of them places that does turfing, you can get some little rectangles of turf and tie it under your shoes. It's just like running on grass and the shoes and your joints will last a lot longer........

In my case it applies to running, cycling and small pre-millennial Citroens and the spannering of them thereof ;)

Today is a bit of a special day :D I have broken my run streak record by running every day for 81 consecutive days...

My previous best was 80 days and that came to an abrupt end in a hospital bed back in March

I' now on my way to 100 days and all being well the 100th will happen just before Christmas and some special celebrations will take place :) ;)

This weekend I hope to run my 11th consecutive half marathon in as many weekends...
