They certainly are ace Lexi and jolly useful... Not something I use every day but just recently it's really been earning its keep :)

Mine's something of a family heirloom. It's been in our family for three generations and dates from 1955...

I did contemplate selling it a while back but my girls banned me from doing so... Good job they did!

Spendy? That's a new word to me! If it means expensive then yes, I nearly fell over when I saw what they go for

Lovely! A nice early S1 :D Shame it's a four door... Somehow, in my eye, a four door AX does not look quite as good as a two door...

Sally and I are making a short visit to Somerset to see Alasdair 🙂 We enjoyed an excellent journey down here despite the abysmal weather. It was warm, dry and clear for my early morning run but that did not last long...

In a very happy place yesterday lying under a Xantia tracing hydraulic pipes to find out the one that runs from the security valve all the way back to the rear anti-sink valve as it needs to have a new section spliced in..
Anti subk valve
Anti subk valve
Then we found a four pipes near the rear subframe had been cut and rejoined in the past 😲 Maybe to allow the subframe to be dropped and removed 🤔

I tried out this very snazzy and clever flare nut spanner on a tight union on the anti-sink valve...

It works magnificently 👍😃

After all that I went for a magical early run this morning 🏃???😎 Today marks day 38 of my run streak 😃

Nice tool

I would imagine they've either repaired patches of pipes or they've had to drop the fuel tank for some reason - if they'd had to drop the rear subframe surely they'd have took the opportunity to replace those scabby lines - nightmare job getting access in situ although I did manage to replace the same line on mine, hopefully the joiners you've supplied will help Alasdair get that looking prettier .....

Here's the full set... On the larger ones you can see how the heads of the spanner tighten around the hex as you undo them...

This very much reduces the risk of rounding off a tight one...

You're right about not trusting those couplers... They are a bodge using ordinary kunifer brake line. The joints are two standard flares butted together like a flange... We were both staggered they could hold the pressure!

They will be replaced by the correct couplers... My lathe is going to be busy!!!

Speaking of busy, I'm now back home with my old hydraulic press so that I can crack on with replacing Daffodil's wheel bearings :D

As you are into hydraulics at the moment Jim how about this:

I quite fancy owning it myself but nowhere to do the work !! :)

That's a lovely example in a gorgeous colour 8-) It deserves a very good home...

I've had three XMs already Mick... Two ES9 V6 autos and one 2.0 TCT auto with LPG...

For reasons I can never quite explain I just did not 'bond' with any of them. And given my diminutive size the seats were far too big for me and I used to slide all over them and could never get properly comfy

And an XM won't fit in my garage!

An AX is more my size and it DOES fit in my garage ;)

Thanks for the link to those spanners... They're not cheap are they? :o

Cheap they certainly are not, there are other types and makes on ebay but I get the feeling the Premiers are the rolls royce of the choices, you get what you pay for!! :-D

Precisely 😉 Pay for good quality tools and they last a lifetime and then some. I bought a lot if my tools 35 years ago now, paid for good quality ones and they are all still going strong. I also have a lot of dad's tools and they've now done two generations...

Speaking of tools, I brought my hydraulic press home from long-term loan ready to do Daffofil's wheel bearings... In what looks like a version of automotive Tetris the press has found a neat and tidy home in in the workshop 😎
Ahh, there it is!
Ahh, there it is!
Spot the hydraulic press!
Spot the hydraulic press!
The press is ok but not lifetime quality. I've already impressively bent its press bed after a particularly hard fight with some very recalcitrant XM wheel bearings a few years ago 🤣

Daffodil's little ones should be no problem 🙂
