CitroJim wrote: 20 Oct 2009, 21:05 No, the only Citroens I've ever driven are an AX (I had an 11TGE in the early 90s - wonderful little car :D ), a DS and a multitude of Xantias

Oh and I'd love to try a Traction too

I think you've probably cracked it there Neil, I found another reference to Jim's AX from "way, way back" ! :-D

I congratulate you all on your superb detective work 👍😎😃 It is indeed an AX :-D

I've known the car for a few years now and was incredibly fortunate to acquire it... It's not yet with me and I have to arrange logistics to collect it... It's some distance away and trains may be involved... It's been ages since I've been on a train

Where do you have to go for it Jim? Happy to offer a C5 ride rather than the train if it helps? :)

No doubt about it Skull, you were the first. I just had a further delve when Jim revealed elsewhere that he had "loved a sister of hers way back in the past". :-D

With my crystal ball and small use of the dark arts I reckon I could have a decent guess at colour/reg number/"pet-name"/ and one of the former owners!/ and even dredge up an image of Sally Saxo next to it, but thats for Jim to reveal :-D

Neil, you are spot-on :D Fantastic detective work 8-) It is indeed Daffodil :-D She's coming to live with Sally and I and will be all tucked up warm and cosy in the garage whilst I give her a little TLC... I'm really looking forward :)

Here she is in the picture you mentioned with Sally at the Haynes Motor Museum :)

Don't they make a lovely couple ;)

In other news, all is done on Zel's Activa and she's now ready for an MoT :D

I renewed the Nearside brake pads...

And here she is, in all her glory - just to prove she's fixed and mobile again ;)

Plans are now in hand for me to collect Daffodil next week :-D
Daffodil
Daffodil
I'm taking the train down into deepest and darkest Wiltshire... I'm making an adventure out of it and looking forward to travelling any significant distance from my home area for the first time in what seems several years :)

I rather like trains and will make the most of a quick visit to London too...

The fact I can do this again and actively look forward to it speaks volumes... Some of you will know that my health has not been good for a few years and indeed was the cause of me more or less giving up cars, intermittently disappearing from here and having to take early retirement. For a time all I could really do was run and cycle. Mindless physical activities to keep me fit and happy whilst my head did a very slow and comprehensive reboot.

During this time I discovered I had a few food intolerances, including dairy, egg and soya! As a result I'm a full-time dietary vegan and never felt better :)

And then I was involved in a rather serious road accident and my first stay in hospital in 60 years and a battle to regain my fitness and health!

Fast forward to now and I'm almost 100% good. Back into cars and not afraid to push myself well outside my comfort zone again :D

I still have my off-days but they only last a day and are getting more and more infrequent ;)

To me, this is absolutely brilliant and has made me very happy :D

Resting today ahead of running the MK Marathon Reimagined tomorrow :D

This is a clever way of running a marathon (or indeed any running event) whilst observing social distancing... We all run the course at our own times and are guided along the route via an app. on our Smartphones called RunGo... It's like a satnav for runners and gives voice prompts of where to start and the routes to take. I've already used it a few times for other events. The app. even alerts you to interesting landmarks on the way :D At the end, the RunGo app. automatically uploads your run to the organisers for confirmation of completion. Then you get a message to go to one of our local running shops to collect your medal and goody bag...

Great stuff Jim, I'm sure you will benefit from challenging the railways :-D . As for the RunGo app, that sounds a great idea but as you are all running alone does that not present some safety risks for those that may get into trouble in the later stages? :?:

Yes, to a certain extent it does... In mitigation, it's all on well-fused public footpaths around the Milton Keynes lakes and linear parks, there will be several hundred other runners spread out around the course, I always wear an ID dog-tag and engage Garmin LiveTrack that allows my nearest and dearest to keep tabs on me! And if the worst happens Garmin Crash Detect will alert my nearest and dearest to a problem...

I engage Garmin LiveTrack when cycling and the other day one of my nearest and dearest commenteted on the lenght of time I apppeared to be stopped at a cafe

Normally I solo run very early in the mornings around Paggers so I'm well used to running alone. Hence being a member of the Lonely Goat Running and Cycling Club. A club especially for predominately solo runners and cyclists like me!

Hey yes, I like that a lot :-D I will do just that ;)

One reason I always wear a dog-tag when running and cycling is because a while back a runner fitting my description was found unconscious on the banks of Willen Lake in Milton Keynes. He wore no ID.

Knowing I often run around Willen Lake the local running community thought it was me and a full-scale search was launched for me when it was found I was not at home and not responding to my phone :o I was happily out on a long bike ride and totally oblivious...

First I knew about it was when I got home and neighbours reporting the police and other emergency services were out looking for me :o

Happily the unconscious runner made a full recovery and I very much hope he now wears a dog-tag when he goes out.

I also have full emergency information on my 'phone that can be easily accessed without needing the phone's PIN or fingerprint...
