I guess the 63/2 marking on those blue capactors is the manufacturing date!
A friend tells me that 20 years is about the limit on PSU caps, particularly in power amps, and that replacing them is a good move.
On the eyesight front, I invested in an anglepoise-type illuminated bench magnifier a few years ago. Just about essential for working on modern pcb's. Only irritation is that the glass lens tends to get breathed on, and mists up. Must fit a small fan - or a heater!

I have a similar magnifier Chris and I find a squirt of Rain-X every couple of weeks keeps it crystal clear when I use it, not that its that often these days! :-D

Well, inspired by Jim's post (as always :)), what better on a Sunday morning than to finally tackle the misting-up problem on the magnifier . . .

Clears heavy breathing (jokes will surely follow) within a few seconds. \:D/

Didn't see your Rain-X tip until I'd finished, Mick.

Went to very exotic climes today and rode around an active volcano with my cycling club!

This virtual riding takes in some interesting places :-D

That was as much as my ribs and back can currently take. A very hard and enjoyable one and happily, two milestones passed on both distance and time :D

I bought various magnifiers, including these:

I have to have my nose practically touching the workpiece, focus is so close. A bugger if soldering.

Yesterday I got RGT Cycling working. It's a virtual cycling platform similar to Zwift but substantially different in how it is set up and in the level of realism...

The big difference with RGT is that it runs its back-end processing on an Android or iOS 'phone and uses a PC, mac or an iPad as its front-end display device whereas Zwift just runs on a 'phone...

To get the most out of RGT I needed a VGA cable to connect my laptop to the TV and a compatible Heart Rate Monitor...

All arrived today courtesy of Amazon Prime and it all works a treat :D

Here's a screenshot showing the level of realism...

And how it looks from the bike cockpit...

Thoroughly enjoying this virtual cycling and the not inconsiderable technical challenges of making it all work...

Next task is to perfect two-way audio communications between me and fellow riders when we ride as a club group...

That looks really good Jim, I had a similar setup with my F1 car driving sim and I have to say that I found the closer I put the TV to me the more realistic it felt. Close enough so you had to turn your head slightly to look at the roadside and it really enhanced the feeling of realism. ...  :)
