The Pug of Love is going in for two new tyres and an MoT on Friday...

I would not wrap a car with a failed top coat unless it is ALL sanded off.........the wrap will lift, it needs sanding off before it is applied as there will be moisture in the colour coat.

A simple sanding and "same colour" would be the cheapest option.

Yes, I think that is what it'll end up being as I have other major expenses on the house coming up such as plumbing work, exterior painting, some new windows and a new front door...

The Pug of Love is now insured... £171 via LV... Very happy with that... Cheapest car I have to insure

LV allow you all of your NCB on all of your cars as long as you're sole driver on all and have a clean driving record...

The Pug of Love has passed her MOT

Just an advisory on the front discs/pads and a cracked driver's mirror... The discs were quite well corroded after being off the road for six months. Knowing they'd need doing soon I took full advantage of a GSF 52% off and got them, along with oil filters for the 207 and C1, in stock ready...

I'm really quite delighted

Considering that car has had a long history of oxygen sensor problems and the EML popping on frequently her emissions on the MOT test were almost zero... Maybe giving the Engine ECU a complete reinitialise and retrain just before the MOT did the trick...

Now to see if she still cuts out randomly...

Gabriel will now now be coming off the road for her new heater matrix and clutch and the Pug will assume her role for a while...

That's good news there Jim, Good luck with the heater matrix, I am sure you know the job inside out as I think you gave much good advise about doing my Activa's one but even so, no small undertaking by any stretch of the imagination.
Been catching up on your blog over the last few weeks, last time I was following closely there were V6's a plenty and not a bike in sight, much change! and all for the better for it I hope sir.

Thing is, Gabriel is such a good example she's worth it... 208K and she runs like a well-oiled clock

And if truth be told, I enjoy doing it - as long as I don't have to rush it... Took me six months to get around to sorting out the Pug!

I have to say Dean, since I embarked on what almost amounts almost to triathlon training every day I honestly have never felt better. In fact if I don't get my daily 5K run, my swim and a decent bile ride in every day I feel bad and get withdrawal symptoms... It's an addiction!

yesterday I could not do my usual training as I needed to be home all day so feeling bad because of it I went out out and dug the entire garden!!!

I was also feeling nervous about Pug being away for MOT and that did not help. MOTs to me are like waiting for the arrival of a baby!

Today has been different. I enjoyed a stunningly good parkrun and will be out cycling a bit later

I'm with you on waiting for an MoT result, if at all possible I like to stay and watch the test. having to leave a car for them to fit in is just torture!

It's a lot less torture for me to leave the car with them in the morning and forget all about it until the 'phone call - usually much later in the day... The Pug took a good 24 hours as the tyre machine blew up yesterday and they could not fit tyres for several hours so everything got delayed...

I just (tried) to forget all about it...

I leave my car with my local Polish mechanic (Citroen-trained

)
He takes it for the MOT and anything that crops up he fixes.
Very reliable, plenty of common sense and sensible pricing.

I feel quite comfortable handing it over to him and have never had any concerns.

I hate leaving the car as well. Though out of the last four tests I've done I've wound up being the tester's helper during three of them - I reckon the tester knows he'll save so much time by virtue of me actually knowing where everything in my weird old cars is rather than waiting for the usual apprentice to spend ten minutes trying to find the ignition in the Saab or work out how the heck to switch on main beam in the Lada...Guess it doesn't take long to spot someone who's done that a million times before either.

If you want any help with a good valet on the Pug (or any of the others for that matter) Jim feel free to give me a shout. I really enjoy that side of things so am happy to help.

What's the issue with the interior that needs cleaning up? Having dealt with the trade ins we used to get every two years from a get back when I worked at the garage I'll bet it's nothing I can't handle!

Best you come and look but basically stains and what I'd call long-term grime from not being cleaned regularly and being used as an extension of Costa Coffee and McDonalds and a giant litter bin for same and very rarely emptied

The amount of rubbish in the car was legendary...

It will be a challenge!!!
