GSF don't do Xantia clutch cables sadly Stu... I looked... Under clutch cables all they have are clutch clips..

Their deal on Valeo 1.9TD clutches is not bad at all.. Before discount the kits is £117...

Mine's a pull clutch too.. All 1.9TDs are... Mine's got the auto-adjusting cable and I was hoping to get a manual cable and convert it when I change the clutch...

I'll try to find that vanishing clutch cable for you while I'm packing up over the weekend Jim. I know it's in my junk somewhere.

I know that (four years ago) GSF did do the auto adjusting clutch cable for around £20, and was made by QH.

I have seen a few NOS clutch cables on e-bay, but some of them have let the auto adjuster expand. Somewhere on the forum are my instructions on how to resolve this.

James, that'll be very appreciated :D I'll see if I can pay you by way of any odd V6 bits I may still have knocking around ;)

As it's been a lovely day I took Activa out for a long and lovely drive today - long enough to thoroughly enjoy it around some nice twisty stuff and get the oil nice and hot...

It's been a while since Activa has had a decent run and I'd almost forgotten just what a stunningly lovely car she is :D

Both Activa and Gabriel have had a thorough weekly check-over today and both are in the rudest of health... I now have a nice new heater matrix and clutch stashed away for Gabriel... No intent to fit either for a while yet.

I thought it was a long drive I had in Activa today until I went for what began as a short bike ride. It turned into a rather long one and much longer than my Activa drive by a factor of two! And that on top of a very good Parkrun this morning...

After all that I feel bloody marvellous. It's been a excellent day ;D

Had a great day yesterday. I took part in a fund-raising run for our local hospice. It was called the 'Santa Dash' and we all ran wearing full Santa outfits... Take it from me it's hard to run in a Santa outfit

I ran to the venue and back again as I knew parking would be difficult. In running there and back dressed as a Santa gave a lot of people a lot of smiles! Best was as I ran over an M1 over-bridge I waved to the traffic and got many hoots back, especially from the lorry drivers :D

Here is a selection of Santas at the race finish :)

Image

The race has so far raised £7,000 and they're still counting the money!

Today I have serviced Robyn's C1... It took all of an hour and that included a very thorough check of everything... All is very good :D

Yesterday I repaired a high-quality battery charger I've had for years stashed away in the attic... It's designed to float-charge lead acid batteries continuously... It'll also boost charge and/or supply the load up to 20A..

Here it is on test floating the Pug 207 battery and powering a Xantia headlamp as a test load... That lot is drawing a good 6 Amps from the charger whilst it continues to float the battery...

Image

The project for Christmas is going to be the Pug 207. I'm going to have her BSI, fusebox and any other electrical suspects out and give them a good old check-over...

I'm determined to sort that car out... It's now taunting me saying 'Come on big boy, you know you want to...'

And I do :)

And I will ;)

Today has been a great day :D I developed a massive smile this morning and it's still with me...

Casually listening to the Anneka Rice show on BBC Radio 2 this morning going about my normal kitchen activities I was vaguely aware of her giving various people a mention... Being mentioned on a national radio programme is, to me, a bit special, especially on one of my favourite shows...

Imagine my utter surprise when I heard her read out my name in connection with my love of old Citroens!!! Surprise soon turned to delight :D I'm still smiling about it now...

Shortly after I went for a lovely Parkrun and then I enjoyed a 30 mile bike ride aboard my best bike... Gosh, the wind was bitter and quite strong... I arrived home suffering frostbite and hypothermia I'm sure

Only problem with taking bikes out on long rides is the necessity to clean and lubricate them after a long ride... That's two I've had to thoroughly clean in as many days... I must love my bikes a lot more than my cars because my bikes get washed a lot more frequently...

Tomorrow morning I'll be taking part in another Parkrun :) On New Year's Day I'll be doing two back-to-back... What a great way to kick off 2017 ;)

Happy Christmas everyone and all the very best for 2017 :)

I'll have to listen to that - I have a real problem listening to the radio though.

I was out in the car a week or so ago and the CD player packed in and reverted to the radio.
I was about to turn it off when I recognised Victoria Coren's voice, she was talking to Olivia Coleman and Sarah whatshername from S. Shields about cars - mainly Cleo's.
Abandoned that when I got home but tried to listen on the computer but just couldn't do it, it grates so much, like trying to listen to audiobooks, just doesn't work for me.

Will make an effort though, under the circumstances.

Odd coincidence is I discovered just this morning that Anneka Rice is Sir Tim Rice's daughter.
I should have investigated as my eldest is called Annika (born in Sweden where it is a common name) but people assume she is named for Anneka Rice.

Now I wish I had not got to my first call so early. If I had be 15 minutes later I would have heard it live. Still, I listened back to it on the IPlayer.

Not sure - read it this morning somewhere.
Should look in Wikipedia I suppose.
