Now that would be even better James ;) But for now, a CD with 100 or so tracks is luxury!

100 or so is more than enough for most trips really isn't it!

Should toss you a couple of my old mix MP3 CDs Jim...have a laugh at the fact that based on what I've heard so far that you would probably have picked the same bunch!

Only had the car a bit less than two years...never realised that head unit played MP3 CDs...

Saab has a USB socket and talks directly with the iPod which has 500 or so tracks on and is generally just on shuffle. Nothing in the Lada yet...need to keep my eyes open for a period head which I can stick a tape adaptor in. Speakers will be modern though as that area has actually moved on a bit in recent years...

Took me a while too Zel, It was only when I spotted 'MP3' and 'WMA' written on it that I got curious...

It reads and plays a CD full of MP3s and even displays the ID3 tag but won't do the same for a DVD full of MP3s... Bit too much to expect I guess...

Speaking of period stuff for the Lada, there are firms out there that do conversions to put modern 'innards' into period sets in such a way that you'd never know from looking at the unit...

Between us I'm sure we could do much the same - you just need a scrap or sacrificial period head to work on... It would be an excellent project...

A most excellent day today :D

I ran a PB time of 26m24s in the Milton Keynes Parkrun this morning, finishing 157th out of a field of 601 :D

I then put the rear seats back in Gabriel ready for her airport run on Monday...

I did a bit to the garden..

I took my Activa for a warming/battery charging run and marvelled at just how different a 1.9TD and Activa are... They may be both Xantias by name but there any similarity ends!!! Both fantastic cars but for very different reasons.... I love them both!

I then went for a cold and windy 21 mile bike ride in the lovely autumn sunshine.. For a lot of the ride it was 'raining' autumn leaves.. Quite an experience...

And the day was rounded off with a most enjoyable visit from James (Hell Razor) :D

Now sitting here scared and unsettled by all the fireworks going off. I hate them with a passion

It must have been good from 9 here as I got a good night’s sleep :D

Must have done as I've done a 5K run and attended karate training this morning...

Meant to say earlier that when I checked Gabriel over yesterday she'd used no water, oil, LHM and not lost any air from her tyres... She's definitely a keeper :D

I think me turning up and talking so much must have bored you to exhaustion, which is why you got a good nights' sleep despite the fireworks!

No, just the reverse James, I thoroughly enjoyed your visit and I really do mean that :D

I'd already exhausted myself earlier in the day by running the 5k Parkrun race of my life and then going out on a 21 mile bike ride in high winds ;) Cycling into the teeth of an Arctic gale (or that's what it felt like in some exposed parts) is hard work and it takes a lot of energy; it's excellent resistance training...

James, I reiterate - you are welcome to drop in for a tea and a chat any time you're passing...

Speaking of bikes, we called into our local bike shop for a drool over the new 2107 models when my daughter, her other half and I wandered up to the town for a Costa coffee. So tempted to blow £3.5K on a new bike but I must resist

I know, but I don't mind taking the mickey out of myself. I really enjoyed our chat, and I will see about getting that book to you in some way.

An excellent run down to Heathrow and back in Gabriel today to meet Sian from her long Aussie adventure and bring her home :D

Missed all the queues on the M1 and M25 !

Makes me realise and understand the only car I'm truly happy with is a Xantia. Goodness only knows what I'll do when they are no longer viable as an everyday car...
