Re: Citrojim's Xantia Activa, 1.9TD and Bike Tales

Just returned home from a most excellent day in Somerset to visit dad and to attend two care meetings at his nursing home.

Dad is well and the meetings were good and productive. Gabriel exceeded all expectations of her. She drives far better than any 18 year old car with 206K has any right to and returned 59mpg for the trip - bloody excellent for an old-school IDI XUD diesel and I didn't hang about either... Xantia 1.9TDs rock!!!

I can only assume she went so well because she is wearing two new FCF stickers!

I called in to see Alasdair on my way home and had an excellent hour or so in his company and got a close look at his Xantia headlight project... It's looking good :D

Astute readers will notice the C1 has disappeared from this blog title and from my signature... More news on her fate in due course ;)

Told ya, Jim. She's a bloody brilliant motorway cruiser, and really does go far better than any car wearing that mileage has any right to!

Glad the trip went well and that your Dad is doing well.

The C1 has gone to her new owner and I've taken in exchange for it a very dangerous Pug 207...

It randomly cuts out and needs an ignition off to restart it. It's been doing this on and off for a while now but it's getting more frequent. I consider it's dangerous for Robyn to drive it like this and in any case she's lost all confidence in the car. I consider it's a deathtrap.

The problem has defied all attempts to diagnose it and now we've basically given up for now so I’ve laid it up pending a decision on its future. I may play with it at some point but we all agree we can't sell it as it is and if we did sell it then we'd have to be honest and that makes it worthless so for now it's just sitting on my drive...

In any case I consider it too dangerous to sell except as a cube...

If anyone has any suggestions I'd be pleased to hear them ;)

Robyn wet for a ride with me in Gabriel today. She loves it but says it smells just like a Milton Keynes bus! I know what she means exactly after riding said buses this week  It's that old-school diesel smell...

So, she's now Gabriel the Bus...

My Activa is jealous of Gabriel and threw a sulk today by presenting me with a flat battery  A quick recharge and the application of a pair of FCF stickers has made her feel much more loved now...

I must now go for a short run in the Activa...

It's a TU3... You'd need to drive it from the back seats if you put an ES9 in there...

It would become a two-seater
