Re: Citrojim's Xantia V6, C1 and Activa Tales
What Jim is not telling us is that, when he knows there is a nice long flat stretch, he gets a daughter to steer the C1 while he tows it behind his bicycle. That way he keeps fit, while reducing his fuel costs.

Re: Citrojim's Xantia V6, C1 and Activa Tales
Feeling sorry for my poor old Activa
So I fired her up, no problem despite not having moved for a month
, took her for a little run and then gave her a good wash in the pouring rain.
Looks a lot better now and no longer like an abandoned car
She was not really dirty but had collected an impressive array of spider's webs and general dust...
Pleased with the result. She both looks and drives beautifully...
She'll be off to the Haynes Motor Museum on Sunday next and will be made to look very sparkling for that...

Re: Citrojim's Xantia V6, C1 and Activa Tales
Following their wash in the rain yesterday (an excellent time to do it!) I gave both a good mechanical check, a mere formality
and gave their interiors a good spruce up...
I can tolerate a bit of a mucky exterior as I can't see it when driving but I do like the interiors to be pretty much immaculate...
Looking forward to giving the Activa a decent run on Sunday

Re: Citrojim's Xantia V6, C1 and Activa Tales
Nothing to report on the car front at all... They are hardly used nowadays but I must say the Activa was an absolute delight when I drove her to and from the Chevrons Rally
I've recently discovered a liking for another method of transportation and now do this regularly on a Friday...
Me, yesterday

I really do love it
This coming Friday I'm doing a kayak triathlon to raise a bit of money for our local hospice. A 1.5 mile paddle around a course set out on the lake, a 3 mile run around the lake and then a swim across the lake!
Now going out for a 3 mile training run...

Neil, happy to post that pic in the Pictures of the Day thread. Got a lovely pic of a Rover P5B I spotted in Somerset yesterday to post too....

Re: Citrojim's Xantia V6, C1 and Activa Tales
Looks like fun Jim - I like messing about it boats, thinking about joing the sailing club at St Mary's Loch next year (see the thread about the local AA box!). I used to be able to eskimo roll about 20 years ago, probably couldn't do it now though - interestingly it's all about technique and not much about raw power. The instructions are all about waving the paddle about over your head, which is sort of what happens, but you've got to remember you're working upside down - just like working underneath a car really!! Tip though from your pic....get a spray deck before you try it

Excellent
Do Richard, it is good fun and I have found I really enjoy watching the lake wildlife from the kayak... Saw a lovely heron on Friday evening. It was magical
I'll be going on a training course as soon as I can but for now I get over the problem by wearing my full wetsuit....
Keeps me warm too...

Yes! Until I've been properly trained I'm recommended not to have one yet in case I capsize and can't release it...RichardW wrote:Tip though from your pic....get a spray deck before you try it

James, that's mad!
I don't think such a device would be very welcome on our lake and it would scare the wildlife a bit, not to mention innocent walkers and patrons of the pub who enjoy sitting and eating by the lakeside!

A VERY long time (I was only about 4 years old) back my Mum won a bet, when she canoed between the two Brighton piers on (IIRC) Christmas Day. It was somewhat choppy, but she made the trip OK.

Good for her James
Like me, I was out on my bike on Christmas day last year riding along a deserted but normally insanely busy dual carriageway!
