Ah, when you said all the usual bits OK, I read TC into that... Do you think it's made 220k on the original TC and other internals, or has it been apart before? That's pretty good going - presumably some oil changes happened along the way somewhere!!

The short answer is we don't know Richard. When compared with HP20s out of petrol V6s at high mileages, this 'box looks very youthful so it may have been swapped at some time in the life of the car, which spent a lot of its life as a taxi.

I noted some date codes on parts in the gearbox are late 2004 which is a bit earlier than the car...

I don't believe it had any fluid changes as the ATF was very dark but otherwise OK and still had lots of detergent action.

It's been a busy day today and thank goodness the weather has smiled on us :-D

As arranged, Alasdair came to visit with an newly refurbished hydraulic pump and pressure regulator for his V6 Activa...

We set about fitting them and almost had a showstopper with the pump to regulator pipe. It was bent right on the pump end union and this prevented the union rotating around the pipe. In trying to free it the large hexagon below it started turning!

Inly one thing to do, remove the pump with the pipe attached... This we did with not a little difficulty... Once the pump was out a few gentle tweaks on the pipe saw the union nicely rotating again and the work could continue..

This was all caused by carelessness and not appreciating how to properly fix and clip the pipes - likely happened after the O ring below the big hexagon was replaced some time in the past.

The rest of the job went smoothly and the new pump and regulator has resolved the hydraulic issues beautifully.

Just as we were finishing Alasdair's car Davie's Activa arrived on the back of a recovery truck for its clutch replacement. Almost perfect timing!

This was the scene outside my workshop not long after Davie's car arrived:

I was most privileged to take Alasdair's V6 Activa for a drive - just to check the hydraulic you understand

Gosh it's a good 'un 8-) :-D Rides beautifully and goes very nicely =P~

It's been a brilliant day... Now resting..

It'll be back to work on the the HP20 gearbox tomorrow and then I'll make a start on Davie's but the weather is not set very fair for much work in that direction just yet :(

Now taking a well earned rest for the remained of the day...

Thanks James :D I intend to take tomorrow off ;)

I only now need to reassemble the HP20 and that can be done Sunday or Monday when it's raining...

The man is a diamond...Jim mate !....bonza Job

Pleiades have done a great job on the rebuild of the pump/reg.....no more telling people "that clicking is NOT tappets !" and the red lights are out in less than 15 secs.

Yes, I must say Pleiades did indeed do an excellent job on both pump and regulator :D

Interesting to note the subtle difference in mounting the pressure regulator on a manual 'box in a V6... useful to know for potential Activa V6 conversions ;)

Yes, the regulator mount/pipe clamp would be an easy one to miss and could cause some head scratching being so similar to each other.
If a pattern needs to be made give me the heads up Jim....it would be easy to make one

Thanks Alasdair, certainly the person who's taken my V6 Conversion kit will need one...

I'll let him know if he doesn't see these posts ;)
