Automatic gearboxes may look very complicated but actually they are very straightforward... I'd rather overhaul an auto than a manual any day...

Two points to bear in mind is that you must work in clinically clean conditions and they are invariably very heavy.

My web pages on overhauling the HP20 gives a good idea of what's involved...

Women are easy to deal with as long as they know you're a weirdo before you marry them. I did this and have no problems at all.

Easy to understand too. "If you buy another old Citroen, I will cut your penis into little pieces" is pretty clear, wouldn't you says?

Excellent progress is being made with the 4HP20 :)

No showstoppers have been found and the rebuild has commenced...

More later...

So why are you rebuilding it? Decided it was time; engine had to come out anyway; it was looking a bit dirty; pub challenge....!!!

It's not mine Richard, It's out of a Pug 407HDi belonging to a member of Team WFA. The Torque Converter failed with what I suspect was a broken sprag clutch... Owner sad it was slipping like a ******

Whilst it was all out to allow the Torque Converter to be refurbished by Mackies it seemed a good idea to do a light refurbish on the 'box, especially as it had covered over 220K.

The 'box is in excellent nick and has only needed a new oil filter, seals and gaskets... There was no debris of any note to be seen and no 'Hedgehogs' at all on the swarf collection magnets...

The 'box is well on it's way to being back together but this afternoon has been busy for a different reason:

Following my decision to abandon my V6 Activa project (reasons not open for debate or discussion) I was delighted today to pass all my accumulated items over to a fellow Activa owner who will be carrying out the conversion. In going through what I had it turns out there is only a very small number of items still required to complete the job.

I'm really looking forward to seeing the conversion complete in due course... I will be doing a a little more work to aid the process such as swapping the cambelt and water pump on the donor engine and fitting a new clutch...

While I do not need (or want) to know what your reasons are, I hope that it is that YOU have decided not to do the conversion, but to get somebody else to do it for you. If so, have a lot of fun with the finished car (but if not, have fun anyway).

Yes it was definitely ME that made the decision. In fact how I've typed that you might just get a little clue as to one of the reasons why  It's not the only one by a long chalk and one of the others I cannot divulge yet until another party is in agreement with something...

I will at the appropriate time as it is excellent news, for me at least :D

It's not my Activa that will be converted James, it's the one owned by the person who now has all the stuff from me. Mine is to remain as a TCT... I will be assisting in some small ways with the conversion though :)
