They all come as part of the package... You should see what it looks like under the donor.. Green puddles a-plenty  Lots of good-natured blue air as a result!!!

A very good day today on the Activa V6 project... Here's the engine coming out of the donor..

Image

All was ready for the lift but here's Chris proving a V6 can be removed before the end of a cup of tea...

Image

Chris's patent exhaust flange separation method can be seen in the picture above.. First move engine forward after disconnecting the other end of the cat!

And finally, the remains of the donor (very little actually) off to the scrappers :(

Image

She's not died in vain. Lots of her will live on in a V6 Activa and she's also helped other Xantias too...

All bits recovered from the donor are now clean and in storage ready for the next phases.

The engine is sitting in my workshop ready for its large overhaul and that will commence shortly...

In other news, Chris brought over another ES9 block that had done 171,000 miles. We stripped the bottom end whist waiting for the flatbed to arrive to take away the remains of the donor and we were both delighted to see no bottom end wear at all either on the crank, big ends, mains or the pistons/bores..

Those engines really are excellent :-D

Many thanks to Team WFA today for all their very hard work =D> :-D

Brilliant News, Jim!

Looking forward to seeing your rebuild! How far are you thinking of going with the rebuild on the engine? When I did mine I stripped it down as far as the cam boxes and resealed them, removed the sump, steam cleaned it, wire brushed it, painted it and resealed that as well.

David.

That's the plan here too David, I know the engine is fundamentally good so no need to disturb any further than you did really...

I'm going to invest in an engine stand before too long. It'll make life about 20 times easier...

180Kgs to be precise Alasdair... The 'box adds another 90Kgs..

Interesting to look at an ES9 crank and pistons. Performance items and surprisingly light. The pistons almost look like slipper pistons...

Good work.. think of this though.. this that your team are doing I always have to do alone..

so I can say I know whats involved and two does help sometimes to lighten the load..

I sooo wish id still my v6 .. that shell looked perfect to have seen kept good... OR I would of done a swap. My blue v6 really was bad..

I couldn't save the struts and tops Paul as the stipulation from the scrapper was the car had to be a rolling shell.

V6 struts and tops are unique to the V6 anyway so no use to the majority. I do have a spare set anyway if necessary...
