I have a long way to go before I'm him Mark... He's a Shihan (literally master) and there are very few of those... You will see our grading chief examiner is a Shihan and he is as close to god as it gets....bxzx16v wrote:Well done Jim or should I say Mr Miyagee.

I learned an interesting fact yesterday.. When you are awarded a new belt you must not take off the old and put the new on... The new one must go on top of the old one and the, and only then, can the old belt be removed...
Possibly a spiritual thing. The current belt has seen you through to this stage, and by putting the new belt on over the top of the current (old) belt the spiritual essence is transferred across (although I bet there is a better way of explaining it) into the new one.CitroJim wrote:I learned an interesting fact yesterday..
