Although I'm sad that Old V6 is finally coming to the end of this stage of its life I'm delighted to note that in the ownership of PavlosV6 it did nigh-on 30K with very little grief... It's now done nearly 206K and almost 40K since the gearbox rebuild...

I'm happy I truly gave it a new lease of life... The car was heading for the scrap yard when I got hold of it originally, having a dead gearbox and many other issues...

It seems somehow fitting it'll now form a large part of my next project...

So long Old V6 and thanks for all the new skills you taught me :-D

And no doubt new ones I'll learn during the course of the Activa project! :)
Sob, sniff

Yes, well done CitroJim and Old V6. Thanks for 28,000 miles of smiles.

I am selling my Xantia V6 for reasons mentioned in my For Sale thread.. I'm not using the car much these days and with my Activa V6 project now gaining a lot of momentum it'll get even less use. I'd rather it went to someone who will get the full enjoyment out of it...

I recommissioned my Activa today after its winter lay-up... It started first time and ran like a clock...

I took it out for a drive and oh my gosh it's good. I know V6'ing it is exactly the right thing to do :-D

One problem. I could smell a touch of burning from the heater vents... The problem is a bad connection on the blower motor supply causing the plug and cable to run warm...

I'll sort that on Wednesday...

I presume you'll just soak the wire with water to cool it down?

Whoever gets your V6 will be a happy chappy, I really enjoyed driving it a few months back, it drives like a new car does.

We had an afternoon at the WFA farm today and amongst other tasks we fired up Chris's V6 XM. My goodness what a lovely car the V6 XM is... Gorgeous but sadly it just reaffirmed the seats are far too big for a little 'un like me...

I took it for a decent run along a private road :-D 8-)

It has terribly leaky camboxes and I've promised Chris I'll do them for him...

The hard-standing work area at the farm is reached via a farm gate and a paddock. All our cars were parked today well beyond the gate with Chris's Activa nearest the gate.

Chris needed to move his Activa and bogged it down in the wet marshy grass just by the gate... It needed a tow and the best car for the job was the XM. I backed it toward the Activa and the XM then decided that was a perfect time to run out of petrol right in the middle of the gateway!

This had the effect of blocking in all our cars...

We had no petrol available and no cars available to get any...

We tried to pump some out of the Activa but the pump will not run if the engine is not running... None of us had any access to wiring diagrams to see which relay pins to link to make the pump run...

This needed some thinking....

Solution: Siphon a gallon out of the farm ride-on lawnmower :-D

The XM then successfully towed the Activa free just as it really came on to rain...

It was a scene worthy of Top Gear...

An excellent afternoon...

It was Mark..

I've crashed today... Felt it coming on over the past couple of days... Been pushing too hard at work mainly, trying to cope with too much stress and now I'm suffering...

It reminds me I just have my condition more or less under control most of the time. It's not fixed...

Been sleeping most of the morning... Bit more lively now... A lot of rest and stress-busting will soon sort it...

Still, before I did I got the burning smell in the Activa sorted. It was just a bad connection on the positive connection to the blower motor at the speed module end...

The spade connector has run a bit warm but a bit of a re-crimp seems to have sorted it...

I took the Activa out for a good blast yesterday and really enjoyed it. The drive is gorgeous...

I'm shortly to do a big job with DVLA of putting two private plates onto retention so I can ultimately transfer the private plate currently on the V6 over to the Activa... Or could I transfer them in the hope and belief the DVLA will not get confused?

I don't know, I'm still cogitating that one...

Slow down again Jim. I know about the crash and burn. I'm very unwilling to push myself too hard, too scared of the crash. Then I get worse because I don't push. It's a very fine line to to. No room for maneuver. Put the plate from the activa onto the c1 then the one from the v6 onto the activa. It will save on retention fees, just have to pay the transfers. You could then claim it's pertinent to your active lifestyle rather to an activa.

You're right Davie, I know and through good self-management the crashes are getting much less frequent but the odd one does slip through every now and again after a particularly fraught time..

I've had a very easy day of it today and feeling much perkier now.. I even watched some telly!

I've also dumped some sources of stress today and will keep any new ones and old, dumped ones well at bay...

Can I trust DVLA to do two transfers at once though? That's what worries me...

Do them one at a time Jim. That would be safer! Glad you are feeling a bit better just now. A good day, or even hour or two can make a big difference.
