I know people like that  I find them very difficult to cope with....

Similarly, they find me equally so on account of my positive outlook, especially at single-figures o'clock in the morning

It was a really wet morning but it cheered up a treat this afternoon and allowed me to do a bit of car playing...

I did all the normal checks on the V6 and Eyelashes and then got stuck into a gearbox ATF change on a very tidy red V6 Xantia that lives fairly locally.

I did it in my normal way by measuring what came out and adding back in the same amount of new...

I was a bit shocked to see it had red ATF in it

I'm not sure how long it had been in there but the owner showed me the container and it was Dexron IV and although it states it is suitable for LT71141 applications it has no ZF approvals shown on it...

Luckily the car is owned by an old gentleman and does few miles and all of them gentle so hopefully no damage has been done. I've asked him to return soon for a second change.

I've had to bring my Activa down here for a bit as there is a roof tile just above where it is normally parked that is rather precarious and if it falls it would fall straight onto the bonnet.

The tile is being sorted out on Friday.

Gives me an excuse to use the Activa for a few days now... I must look at it as I can smell a bit of a burning smell when the blower is running at full speed.

What company make was it then Jim.? I am assuming Dexron 1V is semi synth, then? Wasn't that long ago I was using Dex 11 on my big Patrol. Simple mineral.

Yes, it'll be synth. or semi-synth. Lexi and is absolutely fine for 'boxes where the maker recommends it..

The stuff in question I think was made by a mob called 'Carlube'.

Whatever it was not the right stuff for a 4HP20..

I've received my little auxiliary heater. It seems to work. Now I need a frosty morning to really see...

Hopefully it does, and next frosty morning you'll have warm little auxiliaries.

Unusual I must say..

Perhaps Paul will let me have a look at it one day...

Onto other topics, I'm using the Activa as a daily driver for a few days now.

It really is no hardship :-D

They really are good fun aren't they :) once I have some driveway space the dash is being rebuilt on the activa and it's going back on the road to free up some more space. Why a dash has to be so convoluted I don't know!

I must admit Will, even after all these years an Activa still brings a smile to my face every time I drive it :-D

They have a magic about them. Especially with an MBC fitted :-D
