My Mum used to make marmalade, and it was truly delicious. Her jams are pretty damned good as well (and she normally gets the fruit fresh from the canal bankside).

Yes and with sandwich boards saying 'Three Citroens to support - please give generously...'

I'll just have to work more overtime I guess. Ironic isn't it. I work part-time but do overtime

:rofl2:

Home-made is James and it's so easy to make too. I've taken a tad of guesswork out of it now by using a proper cooking thermometer that tells you where to boil it to....

I won't touch shop-bought stuff now. It's sickly-sweet gloop and horrible. Mine is made with 50/50 fruit and sugar and you cannot actually taste the sugar - my latest batch actually tastes a bit tart.. Sweet it is not!

I'm pleased to see that part-time employment status is no barrier to overtime.

Such as special tea blends etc. There was at one point talk of a new type of biscuit but that never got through the change control process.

Absolutely, some things are very important and those are some of the most important.. Tea and biscuits have to be very thoroughly tested and some of the tests have to be done at weekends... No alternative... It's the only time we can properly check dunking quality vs. tea temperature...

I see that 'Mug Radius' has now been dropped.

I do feel though that you should be considering milk/sugar content as the liquid weight will be different for each combination and who knows how that could affect the crumbling weight of the biscuit.

These must be out of hours only as a bad cup of tea can and must close a govt department down.

I did Will but I think when both Robyn and Sian are added it'll be just as or mofre expensive. Sian is still a teenager and onlly has one year of NCB...

Next year when (if) I no longer have to insure the girls may be the time to look...

Been a funny old day here, torrential rain earlier on, snow and now bright sunshine. I've even been out and done the weekly checks on the cars...

Ohh, that's a good point that completely escaped us Chris. I'd better raise an emergency change as soon as I get in tomorrow.

That's the problem. Once you get into the home-made stuff the bought stuff just doesn't cut the mustard. Robyn hates marmalade normally but she tried a bit of my latest batch today and she loves it... Her comment was that it tasted just like oranges...

Unlike the shop bought stuff that tastes like sugar syrup...

If you want a pudding recipe that children will like, I will ask my cousin for his 'Sussex Pond Pudding' The sugar hit is enormous! Loosely, what it is, is a hollow suet pudding with black treacle, golden syrup, currants, raisins, and a grated lemon in the middle. You turn it out in a (very) high sided plate, and when you cut into it the liquid comes oozing out, and end up looking like one of the black pools you will remember from your childhood.
