There are a few problems with the MOT. Perversely, the one that causes the most anxiety is the one that shouldn't - the test isn't actually as strict as you'd believe. I've taken cars for MOTs that I *knew* 100% were going to fail - that shoddy Mazda was one. I was sure it wouldn't pass even on the retest. The brakes weren't great, there was a lot of rot, crack in the screen. Yet, it passed. So did the Focus, which I knew needed new discs and pads on the front, it had a grumbling wheel bearing, a slight knock from the N/S/F, and a tyre that was close to the limit amongst other things. It passed with an advisory for the tyre, yet I didn't feel comfortable driving it because of the faults I knew. I was expecting to do much work on it.CitroJim wrote:The XM goes in for MOT tomorrow morning...
The tension is killing me, honestly I'm a pile of trembling jelly and not feeling at all well![]()
I hate MOT time
So, I'm sure Jim, that with your prep work, along with the other guys that have given their time to sort it, the XM will pass with flying colours, just like Rattiva did.
Interestingly, my mum, who was a nurse, took my pulse in the labour ward when Sam was born as I was a bit nervous. It was 86bpm. I took it at the MOT station when the Activa was in for it's ticket - 105bpm. I did it again when the Berlingo was in the other week, 110bpm.
