Machine Mart, Toolstation, Screwfix, Aldi and Lidl all have those pumps Jim.
But nick Mick's while he's not looking.

Reminded of a tale from a former colleague of my Dad's. Car had an intermittent running issue which was traced to a loose wire or something. Showed his wife the wire and how to fix it if it came loose. Sometime later car stopped out on the road. Instead of fixing the aforementioned wire, she looked in the oil filler - and, not being able to see any oil, decided it should be topped up. So she did. 5 litres!! "Well I still couldn't see it, so I kept going...." :-D

My brother, when he first came back from doing his national service ,did a truck driving job for a fruit and veg wholesaler, they gave him a new driver's mate, he said to the lad "Top up the engine oil while I get the paperwork from the office." When he fired up the truck a Ford V8 the engine cover burst open and the were both covered in oil, the lad didn't know about dipsticks etc. he just filled the engine with oil up to the neck of the filler cap.

I can just imagine the mess Eric

I borrowed Zel's automotive version of a stomach pump today and it took all of two minutes to do the job :D

I pulled out around two litres of oil

Those pumps are awesome and magical! Thanks so much Zel :D Greg says thank you too :D

Steve, I'm sorry, I completely missed this  Specsavers call :x I never knew there were different types of safelights! I've only ever seen the red ones... I love that even as I approach being an OAP I'm still learning :-D

Yesterday, I received a parcel from eBay containing a Pentax SLR camera I bought very cheaply as a potential spares donor for the one I have all in bits on my bench. It turned out to be in immaculate condition and only needed new batteries to restore perfect working order :D So much for spares/repairs...

And speaking of repairs - I now have a fully functional conservatory door for the first time in 15 years :-D I no longer need to use percussion to open it!

It's a long way away Mick!

Funny how spooky things happen. Had two spooky things happen just this week... Makes me think there's forces going on we have no understanding of...

Indeed it is and not worth buying that and driving to get it by a long way, it was just the coincidence of popping up the day after you needed one. I actually have one of the electric type too which I use for petrol transfer if and when necessary between car and whatever other petrol powered tool I might be using. I just don't like having a can of petrol in the garage from a safety point of view and find it much easier to fill a car and then pump into the mower, shredder, chainsaw, tiller or whatever I need! :-D

That's a good plan with petrol storage Mick :D I quite agree about safety...

On the very rare occasions I need a bit of petrol for cleaning purposes, I pop off the hose to Bluebell's carb and use my little vacuum tester pump to draw a bit off...

I'm just about to order a sump sucker of the sort recommended ;)

As I'm currently not driving and it's been weeks since I've started the Picasso I thought I'd best do a bit of this before the battery goes flat...

I'll give her a warming-run later and do the same with Strawberry. No worries about her battery going flat though as there's nothing at all to drain it, not even a radio or clock!

Hopefully, it won't be too long before I can drive again. Yesterday I had to have my grocery shopping delivered. To my surprise it worked out well and was quite painless.

Happily, all my cars started up absolutely perfectly despite their period of disuse and all is good 8-)

Here's Polly looking delightful in monochrome. She looks little different in colour
