I use Brave browser, initially on Marc's recommendation, and it is the most secure one I have found, just beating Opera on the basis of working a trifle faster for me. However while the inbuilt blocker does keep all my browsing completely ad free it does not stop the ads embedded in YT videos. However as they invariably offer a skip button on the bottom right within a few seconds of interrupting I just use that. Not a problem because the content I am watching almost always makes the skipping well worthwhile. Now that my favourite radio station has a live YT channel I may well subscribe to get rid of them too as I am likely to use it more and more. If only it wasn't Google owned!!

I use Ublock Origin and Adblock Pus on Chromium so they will most likely work with Chrome too.

I had a recommendation for https://adnauseam.io/ but havent got round to installing it yet.
I should install the most recent release of Mint but haven't yet, will try it when I do.

How did you determine Brave to be the most secure Mick?

I remember Opera from a good 20 years ago. Liked then because it was simple and 'no-frills' and just did what it said on the tin without fuss. Said to be more robust than the Microsoft offerings in those days...

Erm, Jim, I think the 'brain fog' has had more of an adverse effect on you than normal. I spotted Alasdair had added an extra 'd' into ad-blocker, and the opportunity was too good for me to miss, hence my comment about the mathematics issue on my computer. Alasdair did cotton on with his following comment.

ex Xantia 2.0HDi SX
ex Xantia 2.0HDi LX

Simply by comparing the product statement with those of Opera which I was using at the time when Marc suggested I try Brave. All in all there was not much difference but the commitment not to track my browsing or record any of my details without my agreement convinced me. I tried it and found it just that tad faster and with more privacy and security options for me to set as I wanted them. I have it synced on my phone and the whole setup works very well!!

Sorry to say it is about the same as ITV or Ch4 but just treat them as coffee break, pee break, Guinness 0 break and end of show!! That's my recipe for a 1 hour show, if it's only 30 mins a single coffee break will do the job!! :-D

That would be 'The Ultimate Cycling Show' on channel Quest, starting 27/02.

Nope, generally, if the channel has ads I'll not watch it... If the BBC ends up with adverts in the future that'll be the absolute end for me and the telly will dumped.

And now I'm more or less back to some sort of reasonable health and the weather looks to be improving, it'll be full-ahead on cars, gardens and other outdoor recreational activities. That means zero time for TV. As predicted, it's now back in hibernation and operating as nothing more than a dust-collector.

Polly is soon due an MoT and Bluebell has been waiting a lo ng time and very patiently for further work.

I have a camera in bits on my bench but as alluded to in Zel's blog, it's now on the back-burner as is many other small wet day/cold weather play activities.

700 pages will soon happen Mick as I have a few posts of writeups on the above mentioned camera and how I fixed its lens with a struck iris.

I took Strawberry our for a decent drive yesterday after what seemed weeks of not driving her; it was good :D

This has given me an idea......... :rofl2:

Prankster sends Glasgow runners on lengthy detour

"Runners at a 10k trail race in Glasgow were sent in the wrong direction by a prankster who impersonated a marshal and buried signs marking the course.
Acorn Trails said someone moved a route arrow and impersonated a race organiser to send about 30 competitors on a 2.5km (1.5 mile) detour on Sunday."

I hit the pause button and go do whatever for five mins then when I get back I fast forward through the ads to the resumption of the programme I was watching. Usually still get the whole thing watched before the scheduled end time!! :-D
