Typical Google cockup, they missed the best place of all !!!

I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!

A 24 month (modified as today's) timeline would be interesting bringing in the entire South Coast but given that it would become glaringly obvious that a trip to East Anglia is necessary as well as Scotland!!

Definitely East Anglia Mick but Scotland is a problem; my passport has expired...

Re: CitroJim's AX, C3 Picasso, Cycling and Running Tales
Firstly, I wish to extend my thanks to Alasdair for introducing me to the world of high-end DSLR cameras
It was quite a voyage of discovery
And secondly, thanks to Zel for taking me to a specialist camera dealer the other day... I came away from there considerably lighter in pocket carrying this:
It's reassuringly weighty and appears to be the choice of wildlife and sports photographers for its ruggedness, weatherproofing, speed and overall competence.
Sports photography is what I want it for mainly...
So far it's had one outing at Junior parkrun, although not in my hands, and today I was finally able to see if I'd learned how to drive it on a day out with my girls..
Some photos of that can be seen in POTD here: viewtopic.php?p=826188#p826188
I'm delighted with it although I still have much learning to do.
And finally, I can say quite truthfully you have cost me a lot of money just recently Alasdair

Nice camera
Back in the day I used to photograph an awful lot of darkness
I'd photograph underground sites and I'd have the camera set up on a tripod and have the shutter open whilst trying to (!) evenly illuminate the site with a flashgun or torch. The shutter could easily be open for 10 minutes whilst all this was taking place.

...Though it's actually at least partly your fault, as it was you gifting me your old Olympus which kicked me back into photography on my part with any real regularity, and it was in search of somewhere I could just take films to be developed after our wonderful postal service losing two en route to be processed that resulted in me finding the shop I took you to...So by that logic, it's actually your fault!
Pretty sure this was one of the photos on the first film I put through it in my ownership.
Be interesting to compare and contrast your new Canon to my 40D (circa 2007). Knowing Canon's approach to design, probably a lot that's near identical!
Not my favourite UI on a camera - that honour goes to Minolta with how things are handled on the 7000, but you do get used to it pretty quickly I found.
Current fleet:

Good use made of the B (Bulb) setting there thenbobins wrote: 08 Jan 2025, 18:37 Back in the day I used to photograph an awful lot of darknessI'd photograph underground sites and I'd have the camera set up on a tripod and have the shutter open whilst trying to (!) evenly illuminate the site with a flashgun or torch. It will and we will... Alasdair and I have already discussed about doing same with his against mine...Zelandeth wrote: 08 Jan 2025, 18:39 Be interesting to compare and contrast your new Canon to my 40D (circa 2007). Knowing Canon's approach to design, probably a lot that's near identical!
After learning the Nikon UI, I had to start all over again with the Canon and initially I found it a bit non-intuitive. Steadily it's grown on me and it's now almost second-nature... I can't yet say I can change aperture, shutter speed and ISO blind but I can manipulate the the 65 million permutations of AF fairly intuitively nowZelandeth wrote: 08 Jan 2025, 18:39 Not my favourite UI on a camera - that honour goes to Minolta with how things are handled on the 7000, but you do get used to it pretty quickly I found.

I had to really study all its various AF modes - took a lot of reading and re-reading of the manual and lots of trying it out...
I'm enjoying getting back into something I've not really done seriously for getting on for 40 years

This is mine, the one that has cost Jim so much
....used/bought mainly for Tank Photos, for "our/my" book series.
Nikon D90 body and Nikon-VR lens's...the lens's were/is why i prefer Nikon, stabilisation via the lens's not the body. That opens up a wide selection of lens and after-market ones like my 700 Tamron mirror fitted with a 2x adaptor via a Tamron -Nikon mount.
