Have been a bit slack in updating this thread but things seem to get in the way of my free time but rest assured i have been paying attention to my Xantias

So much has happened in the last three weeks it has actually taken me by suprise and its all to do with Xantias

I have now organised for my 1.9td to have its clutch replaced by a local mechanic trouble is he cant do it till mid april .It has also been booked in for its mot on 23rd march so just a few little jobs to sort out before then -jobs ive been putting off but they will be done as i also need to fit 2 new rear spheres supplied by Whitecrook thanks

Have decided that my 1.9n/a has just about got to the stage where it is going to cost more than its worth to keep on the road

It also needs a clutch along with cambelt/waterpump etc and atleast 2 corner spheres and having done 200000 miles i may try and sell her or more than likely break for some spares.

This is one of the reasons why,courtesy of Andmcit, i now have this sat in my drive

It is a 2.0i 16v VSX with Black leather interior which i think could just take up even more of my limited free time and im really looking forward to

There are a few issues to be sorted like mot+ tax new windscreen and scuttle new back box and a minor electrical concern but will post them in the Citroen Section

Yes i really have got a big smile on my face even though i know its going to take time and a lot of knowledge begging but im sure it will be back on the road by May 1st

Had a wonderful trip to Glasgow and back for work this week

Normally when we go to visit MIL we travel at night as traffic is non existant but for work i went in daylight and with the sun shining travelling up on the M74 the views around Lockerbie were stunning what a wonderful place to live scenery and isolation

Finally had a days holiday today so got round to sorting out the TD

2 new rear spheres,cut and rejoined the main HP feed with a 10mm diameter plastic joiner and finally got round to replacing the rocker cover to oil pot pipe only had it for 5 months

Looks like the mot has been put back till thursday as my gaffer forgot to book it in

just hope that ive checked everything that i can.
Engine bay getting a degrease/general clean up tomorrow and then my attention is going to be focused on the VSX

Finally finished the TD engine looking nice and clean so now i can see if its still got an odd leak....but so can can Mr MOT man

Now for the VSX

Decided that the carpet had to come out today as it was a little damp

and good progress was made in stripping the interior and then it was welly boot time

For those who have yet to experience this procedure i have taken a few photos

Seats out and on dry land

only one piece of carpet in situ

Passenger side rear

Passenger front with impromptu ventilation in place

Finally keep in with the neighbours as the carpets are heavy when sodden

Jim those electrical diagrams would be most useful have added in the Citroen section

Been there, done that! Three times now

Good to see your floorpans looking minty Colin and good to see the wooden blocks under the septum

You just need to see how SWMBO reacts to the carpets spending the next week or three hanging over the bannister

You'd be staggered at how long the foam takes to dry out

You won't half like those leather seats

Tried that already when i did the TD last year

Seems that SWMBO has decided i need to find another way of drip drying them

But thats work in progress tomorrow is Mothers Day reckon i can hang them in the airing cupboard whilst she is distracted

Not had much time to spare today but the carpets have found their way into the airing cupboard after another day drying in the sun sshhhhhh

Managed to get my crimps and crimping tool but had no luck with the wire seems that the highest ampage wire Halfords and the like sell is 27

will have to try alternative sources tomorrow

The days not been a total waste spent a fortune letting the boy take SWMBO out for lunch and a steam train journey to Swanage--i spend just as much when its Fathers Day

Managed to get the seats cleaned did i mention they were leather $\:D/$ and have cleaned the carpet under the rear seats and the drivers side front carpet 8) 8)

Think i have also found a way to route the new wires from the engine compartment fusebox to the main junction box below the scuttle o/s.

I intend to route the wires (in a outer sleeve) up the n/s wing then behind the LHM resevoir clip them to the throttle cable until they reach the o/s wing. from there they run through a fortunately placed hole into the area housing the fuel cut of switch.
they then will run through the grommit hole for the scuttle into the main junction box

May just have to live with the scuttle in that corner not fully supported and be extra careful that the wiper motion doesnt foul the new wires

Have now made a list of what needs to be done within the next 6 weeks
!.Fix ignition/blower + hrw wire
2.replace windscreen and refit wiper mechanism and scuttle
3.examine/fix o/s/r electric window
4.remove n/s/r door exchange winding mechanism and fit to rlacement door and refit door
5.repair and repaint damage to n/s/r wheel arch
6.clean and refit carpets and seats
7.check exhaust and replace (rear box definite)
8.replace damaged section of front washer pipe
9.finish cleaning interior and give exterior wash/polish/wax
10.oil change-lhm change-engine + rad flush new acc sphere
11.take for mot
12.hope it passed and tax it

13.cambelt aux belt and water pump replacement
As usual apart from 11 + 12 any random order will probably be the order of the day

Nothing too major, more fiddly and time consuming rather than being show-stoppers really.

I'd do either Job 10 or Job 13 for you in exchange for planting up my garden

As it stands Jim i cant bring the car to you so how are you fixed for bringing the garden with you

And if your coming this far you just as well bring the lexia

Looks like i managed to get a little distracted by my VSX and hadnt quite checked everything as i should have on the TD

Some may remember me asking about fixing the drivers seat mounting point at the front by the centre console not to mention the set of rear discs and pads sitting nice and dry in the Xantia parts department (shed)

Luckily for me Mr MOT thought i needed a gentle reminder and gave me a failure

Looks like i will have 2 Xantias with front carpets out this weekend 1 drying out 1 having some welding done .......i cant print what SWMBO called me still looking up the meaning in the dictionary

Any hints for doing the rear discs/pads caliper issues more than welcome

Finally got myself in gear and have now completed the task of the rear brake failure new discs and pads seem to have done the trick

Have now got another Xantia with no front carpet

although this is not going to be for too long as my faulty seat mounting is being sorted on monday

.Aquired a replacement nut and i think with a little bit of imagination i can get the job done in a neatish way pics to follow what i hope is a successful job

No luck locally in sourcing my wire for the VSX so have decided to take the plunge and order from tinterweb should arrive in mid week

Got the TD rebooked in on tuesday and then i hope i can concentrate on my list for the VSX

Hpe all goes well with the seat anchorage repair and the MOT goes through OK so you can indeed concentrate on the most important work of restoring the VSX to full health

It just maybe me thats asking in the wrong outlets or even asking the wrong question but i am getting fed up with "young" shop assistants pointing me in the direction of 60A wire in the Audio department

Thats what I thought to start off with, but in the end half of the so called audio wire Halfrauds sell does say '**Amp power cable' on it.
