Yes. A slightly irrelevant joke there for those that don't follow F1 very closely. Mr. Alonso had a heavy shunt in testing about 3 weeks ago. When medics got to him in the car he was unconscious, and when he came round had no idea where he was or why he was in an F1 car.. when asked what year it was and who he was he replied "I'm Fernando, it's 1995 and I race karts. I'd like to be Formula 1 champion one day".. a few days later he'd at least remembered he was a Ferrari F1 driver.. but didn't know he'd switched to McLaren for this year.

This explains his absence from the first race of the season. Seems to be recovered now. We shall see. The brain is a funny thing.

So yes, no memory and likes hitting things..

I'd not be so sure Mike... 'Out of all recognition' might be a potential answer to that question... It really has been a while hasn't it?

Have you read the last few hundred of pages of my blog recently? That might go some way to answering that question

But no, It's distance that's intolerable, not the person. I suffer chronic pains when driving for prolonged periods (even if there's leg-stretching breaks, it still accumulates).

I fully understand Mike but if you ever find yourself up this way you know you're most welcome...

I don't travel far at all these days, hence having a C1 and only one 'toy' car now... Shank's pony and my pushbike takes me most of where I want to go these days... If I could walk or bike to work I'd likely dispense with the C1 too...

Thanks everyone for your support but it seems a confession is due - or rather I have to own up to being mistaken regarding the rear spheres.

By chance I had to check the tyre pressure so took time out to check fluids too. Which means setting the suspension to service high and waiting for the floating indicator to settle. I know I've got a micro leak somewhere so watching it fall to the lowest marker came as no shock BUT....

The orange top hat still stayed within the upper and lower markers which makes one assume that's just fine, right?
All the same, I topped it up. In fact I slightly overfilled it.
So imagine my surprise after setting the height back to low and then normal , that the rear suspension had more travel, indicating the spheres are still useable!

Live and learn, eh? It's also worth mentioning that previously when going from service low to normal, the front always raised first, then the rear but since the top up it's the rear that pushes up first.

Latest development - my 3rd party mp3 player/radio has packed up, leaving me back to the standard factory fit radio (w/ cd changer in boot) so am wondering how things may have progressed. ie, Is there a modern alternative to fit in place of the disk changer that offers mp3 storage and fully conforms to the standard radio commands (including straight plug n play DIN/power connecters?). I could of course repeat the last option and buy another modern head unit but aesthetically they stick out like a sore thumb imo, whereas the factory fit blends in perfectly.

There's some reasonably unobtrusive modern ones about now Mike, they don't all look like Blackpool illuminations stuck to your dash.

Additionally, the clutch gave me a horrid shuddering trying to reverse up a steep incline a few weeks back. It'll do similar going forward (and has done to a lesser extend since my ownership) under the right conditions though the juddering isn't so severe and can be mitigated by balancing the throttle and clutch in a certain way. I'm thinking rear engine mount but wouldn't that also be noted on the MOT?

The days of me crawling underneath to inspect everything are pretty much over (for health reasons), hence this seemingly lazy scattergun "ask the forum" strategy.

It's getting worse. Now, when I park in my favourite spot, I usually steer almost full lock left as I reverse into the space and, given enough steering lock, it feels like one of the front wheels is hopping/being dragged as I bring the clutch up to engage drive. What on earth can it be?

Sounds like a duff CV joint to me Mike. They don't need a huge amount of wear to be present to cause such symptoms in my experience..

Have you tried driving a full circle on full lock and listening for any ticking?
