C/locking dead. Xantia

I've had a quick look round on my bro-in-laws Xantia 1.9td estate. late R reg 98 model. As the central locking has failed. All doors can be locked/unlocked manually but there's no sound, no nothing, electrically.

I've checked the fuses in the fusebox and in the engine compartment, all ok.

I know the BX has a relay between the front seats, but does the Xantia have something similar stashed away.

Or, can anyone point me in the right direction please.

IIRC the Xantia relay is located down by the handbrake, remove the two nuts under the rear ashtray to lift the centre console up.

would this be all models, as I did this on a T reg one in the scrappies but didn't see anything.

I've had the centre console out this morning, but no sign of any relay under there.

Its not a relay, but a somewhat flat electronic unit possible to hide under the carpeting.
I have no idea where the unit is located, but I believe only the first series had the unit located like the BX.

The C/L unit itself is btw VERY, very reliabe, and almost never fails. It seems always to be a problem in the wiring from drivers door to A-pillar, as this wire bundle takes all the jobbie from everyday usage.

Is it a MK1, Ken? If so, then the C/L is I think integrated with the alarm ECU and is under the passenger seat - the biggest trouble with these is them getting a bath when either the matrix leaks, or water gets in past the windscreen seal through the heater blower. Sometimes the carpet does not even appear wet!

On MK2 cars, this function is controlled by a 'body computer' which also handles the interior light functions - no idea where that hides out though....

I can confirm that the body computor is stowed up the side of the heater blower, very easy to get at and change.
But it wasn't that either

still no c/locking.
